Job Description:

HereNow, a program within The Jewish Board- Jewish Community Services, is a teen mental health initiative that provides resources and programming to Jewish teens (13-18), parents, and youth-facing professionals in the NY-Metro area. Through web-based and social media platforms, HereNow empowers teens to use their own voices to talk about mental health issues and share resources. In-person programming is informed by a network of Jewish youth organizations, with a focus on anti-stigma, prevention and fostering resilience.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The program manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HereNow program. This includes building and maintaining community partnerships, engaging teens to participate in and contribute to the creation of web-based content and running programs that are responsive to emergent mental health needs and trends of Jewish teens.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ongoing identification of information and resources about mental health for teens, parents and youth professionals.
  • Developing and maintaining a network of Jewish Youth-facing organization and community partners
  • Recruiting teens to write articles for HereNow; will edit and oversee all submissions
  • Management of the Social Media Teen Leadership committee, including ongoing communications and meetings to drive content creation.
  • In partnership with Jewish Board's marketing department, coordination with 70 Faces Media for the preparation of online materials
  • Maintaining all HereNow social media accounts
  • Running programming and conducting training around teen mental health to professionals, parents and teens
  • Providing consultation and referrals to teens and parents around community-based and mental health resources
  • Representing HereNow within The Jewish Board, at the UJA-Federation, and in Youth Mental Health Roundtables
  • Perform other duties as assigned

CORE COMPETENCIES for the position include:

  • Strong inter-personal, organizational, leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong capacity to work with Jewish adolescents, their parents and other Jewish youth service professionals.
  • Familiarity with the needs of the NYC Jewish Community
  • Ability to work flexible hours; some early evening and weekend hours required.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:

BA plus five years of post-college relevant experience required

Experience working in Jewish camps or youth movements a plus

Master's Degree in human service or public health-related field, Social work or Mental Health Counseling degree a plus.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/LANGUAGE PREFERENCE:

Strong cultural competence regarding Jewish religious, spiritual, cultural and communal practice.

Hebrew language a plus

COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED: Experience with excel, data collection, and navigating social media

VISUAL AND MANUAL DEXIERITY:

  • The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and perform significant data entry into various computer programs. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to travel independently using public transportation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • This role is hybrid; it will include community-based work that requires travel to different locations
  • To perform the essential functions of this job the candidate must be able to travel within the five boroughs carrying equipment such as a notebook, forms, laptop, mobile hotspot and cell phone weighing up to approximately 10 pounds.
  • To perform the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is routinely required to sit (70% of the time) and stand (30% of the time)
  • The work environment generally does not involve physical risk or hazardous conditions
