Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.HDR is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Advisor to join our highly collaborative team in New York and New Jersey. The successful candidate for this position will be a well-rounded, team-oriented individual with excellent communication skills who is capable of coordinating and leading activities related to environmental permitting, siting, planning, and compliance. This position would work with a dynamic team of environmental scientists, regulatory specialists, and engineers to lead and support projects across market sectors.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform project management responsibilities for environmental studies and permitting projects, including preparing and managing scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and issue resolution; manage teams to deliver several projects concurrently.
  • Lead the development of NEPA, NYSEQR, and NYCEQR documentation, including the assessment of project-related effects on environmental resources.
  • Assess and analyze project impacts to identify permit requirements and develop strategies to avoid or minimize project effects.
  • Provide strategic guidance and support to HDR's clients for complex environmental permitting and regulatory projects.
  • Lead and/or participate in consultation with permitting agencies and the public, including New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, and others.
  • Manage projects and deliverables for HDR's key clients in NY and NJ, including the New York City Department of Sanitation, renewable energy developers, and other power, waste, and industrial clients.
  • Support other project managers across disciplines in completing required environmental, permitting, and land use documents, and reports.
  • Support marketing needs, including client development and strategies to expand our environmental and permitting practices in New Jersey and New York.
  • Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
Preferred QualificationsPost-graduate degree preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience working with permitting including federal, state, and local environmental permits in New York.
  • Experience with related environmental site assessments and analyses.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the environmental review process and experience leading the development of Environmental Assessments and/or Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Experience with sustainability practices and environmental, social, and corporate governance.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite, strong people skills, excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, flexible, team-oriented attitude with a willingness and desire to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Local New York or New Jersey candidates preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 10 years related experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of project management experience
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, project management software
  • Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills
