Overview
Manage the commodity within the department to ensure that the product is made to company fit, style, and quality standards within a set timeline.
Responsibilities
- Create accurate detailed technical packages that meets brand requirements, following design direction for each style from development through production.
- Attend and participate in weekly fittings on live model, evaluate fit and analyze issues to establish a plan of action for corrections.
- Draft, correct and digitize patterns, following silhouette, proportion, and design details, as required.
- Work together with Technical Design Senior Director to evaluate the fit of each sample, identifying fit problems and recommending appropriate solutions.
- Perform ongoing evaluation of quality and workmanship to ensure design direction is correctly interpreted and quality standards are consistently met.
- Initiate interlining testing procedure to assess potential quality problems to ensure fabric and garment performance meet company standards and make recommendations for improvement when required.
- Inspect garments at store level following flip dates to ensure production meets final approval inspection/QC standards.
- Regularly review base size specifications, grade rules and figure types to ensure size range meets company objectives.
- Troubleshoot and anticipate possible problems in production, offering appropriate solutions.
- Maintain and update product information, filing systems, computer systems, product library and technical work areas.
- Write and communicate detailed comments to vendors after each fitting.
- Communicate with vendors and agents daily and provide information in a timely manner.
- Follow the development and production cycle/timelines to ensure all technical deadlines are achieved.
Skills and Requirements
- 6 - 8 years' experience required in Pattern Making/Technical Design including Men's Suiting
- Computer proficiency with MS Office; Outlook, Excel, Word as well as Pattern Making Software, PLM, Web PDM or equivalent, Adobe Illustrator
- Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment.
- Excellent English communication skills - verbal and written.
- Excellent time management and work ethics
- Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
- Ability to recognize and quickly react to changing work demands.
- Goal oriented: ability to stay focused on creating winning results.
- Ability to interpret and execute designs from a sketch to a final pattern or specification.
- Strong knowledge of pattern making, draping, garment construction, grading, and factory production
- Basic knowledge of fabric and yarn construction finishes and techniques.
- Basic knowledge of garment and fabric testing
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, includes a reasonable estimate of the salary or hourly rate range for this role. This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications.
A reasonable estimate of the current compensation is $120,000 - $125,000 annually.
