A recognized nonprofit services organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Senior Telecom Technician to join their growing team. In this role, the Senior Telecom Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining telecommunications systems and equipment, including voice, data and video networks
- Troubleshooting and repairing telecommunication equipment and cabling, ensuring optimal performance
- Performing routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all VOIP and telecommunication equipment
- Providing excellent customer service by addressing client inquiries and resolving issues promptly, and perform onsite repairs
- Maintaining accurate records of work performed and equipment inventory
- Providing technical expertise, leadership, and project coordination services to support and maintain continuity of the organization's day to day technical needs
- Creating professional user-facing instructional documentation, including user guides, technical how to's, and other knowledge transfer materials, as required. Utilizes publication and graphic design software for document creation
- Assisting the Director of U/X and Manager of A/V with the research and determination of appropriate end-user hardware and software solutions to suit current and future need
- Perform other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in a Technical and/or End User Support role
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience as a Telecom Technician or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of Telecommunications systems, protocols, and technologies (e.g., VOIP, fiber optics, DSL)
- Experience working with Avaya Cloud technologies, Spectrum Cloud technologies and Genesy Cloud
- Basic networking knowledge and concepts, including knowledge of TCP/IP ports, and basic routing fundamentals
- Superior technical, creative critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
