How you'll make an impact:
  • Providing underwriting support for new business and/or renewals, accounting and/or specialized functions;
  • Assessing risk based on medical and pharmacy information;
  • Calculating renewal rates for complex group cases based on thorough analysis of the groups experience, industry, location, size, and demographic nature;
  • Proposing rates and terms for group prospects with various funding arrangements, including alternative fundings, utilizing a combination of other carrier experience, demographic data and manual rates;
  • Assessing pricing policy adjustment requests;
  • Managing reporting and data analytics platform;
  • Preparing and analyzing claim cost drivers to evaluate actionable solutions, projections, and benefit change increments or decrements;
  • Calculating rate adjustments based on unique contracting arrangements such as direct contracts, bundled pricing, and alternative payment models including reference-based pricing;
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure the accuracy and consistency of account reporting;
  • Assisting, as necessary, in the negotiation of benefit plan designs and financial assumptions on new and renewal business;
  • Communicating with Sales, Administration, and Claims to assess the rating and administrative impact of benefit and plan changes;
  • Providing underwriting knowledge-sharing and education to peers and/or members of the sales team; and
  • Developing rates for self-funded dental and vision programs.
About you:

Required: Bachelor's degree and 7 years related experience required.

  • Computer experience with a variety of applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as sufficient technological knowledge to facilitate decision-making regarding the direction of the automation systems.
  • Able to drive and travel as needed. In-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business.

Behaviors: Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks. Strong analytical skills. Able to effectively lead and direct staff.
