SR Underwriter - Renewable Underwriter GCube is the specialist provider of insurance services for utility-scale renewable energy projects around the globe. With over 25 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, we understand the unique exposures and risks of developing and operating these power generation projects.We help wind, solar, wave, tidal, hydro and energy storage asset owners to identify, quantify and mitigate risk efficiently and cost-effectively.Position Summary Responsible for compliance with underwriting guidelines, mentoring, educating, and developing a staff of Underwriters. Additionally, performs quality control review to ensure compliance with company risk appetite, procedures, and reinsurances guidelines; sets the right example by providing quality care/service to clients; and works closely with Marketing and product development to ensure the company is meeting the product and pricing needs of our customers.Key Responsibilities:Relying on experience and judgement, the Senior Underwriter is responsible for accomplishingthe following assignments. These assignments are varied in nature
  • Monitor the production and underwriting function for an underwriting team dedicated to a specific product(s).
  • Ensure compliance with both Lloyd's of London underwriting guidelines and internal underwriting guidelines.
  • Ensure that internal underwriting guidelines are current and approved by Vice President.
  • Approve risks for staff that are within Underwriting Authority.
  • Decline risks that do not meet underwriting guidelines.
  • Decrease value of policy when risk is substandard and specify applicable endorsement and/or apply rating to ensure risk selection.
  • Evaluate the possibility of losses due to catastrophe exposure.
  • Examine documents to determine degrees of risk from such factors as applicant information, loss history, and risk management practices.
  • Communicate with producers to obtain further information, quote rates, or explain company underwriting policies.
  • Analyze financial data.
  • Follow insurance laws.
  • Manage workflow and delegate to staff as needed.
  • Make recommendations for procedural changes as needed.
  • Provide support to Vice President of Underwriting for complex and diverse activities.
  • Write business correspondence.
  • Fosters productive relationships between Cyber & Professional Lines Group and various
  • brokers.
  • Interface with peers, senior management, and other Cyber & Professional Lines Group team members to further the goals and objectives of the organization.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and RequirementsEducation
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience
Experience
  • Minimum of five years of relevant and progressive professional experience
