This role sits within our global business area, Resilience. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. We are here to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations.Role accountabilities:In this role, you will apply your expertise and technical knowledge of water and wastewater evaluations, design, and construction to serve as a Lead Technical Designer, Task Manager, and/or Project Manager on projects in Upstate NY. This hands-on position involves leading tasks and projects, managing staff, working directly with clients, and participating in business development activities. As a Project Manager and team leader, you will develop municipal water and wastewater projects, ensuring their successful execution and delivery while enhancing the team's capabilities. Your responsibilities will span from planning to the design and construction of water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, stormwater systems, and distribution and collection systems. Additional responsibilities include:
- Developing project scope, budgets, and delivery schedules, ensuring tasks and projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Performing detailed engineering calculations and analyses using technical design software to solve complex issues. Knowledge of CADD software is a plus, but drafting is not required for this position.
- Participating in industry conferences and associations at local, state, and national levels through committee memberships, presentations, and leadership roles.
- Engaging in marketing and business development activities for the water/wastewater market in the region, including developing project proposals.
- Collaborating with other senior staff to manage clients in the region.
- Coordinating project execution activities with other disciplines.
- Overseeing design projects, both small and large, from inception to completion.
- Preparing construction packages, including all deliverables, for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water/wastewater systems for clients.
- Developing and managing cost estimates and project schedules.
- Supervising and supporting the work of others while mentoring junior-level engineers and design/drafting technical staff.
- Maintaining Arcadis' standards and specifications for municipal water and wastewater design and construction projects.
- Traveling up to 20% for project-related activities.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or a related field of study
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer in New York State
Key Skills and Attributes:Required Qualifications:
- Staff development and supervision skills; including mentoring junior-level staff.
- Strong, clear, and concise written and oral communication skills.
- Client relationship skills: including preparation and development of proposals and client management experience with a successful record of accomplishment, delivering a variety of engineering projects that meet or exceed the expectations of the client.
- Experience in water/wastewater plant/facility design and construction administration/oversight projects.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or an MBA
- 15 years of progressively responsible experience
- Secondary certification (W/WW Operators License, BCEE, PMP, LEED, ENV SP)
- Active participation in regional (local/state) and/or national professional associations
