Role description:The Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer will lead and manage project delivery within the municipal Stormwater, Water and/or Wastewater market in San Antonio and the Texas region. Our team helps clients achieve business objectives by creating and implementing innovative and effective solutions for resilient natural and built assets, and this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer and/or project manager to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified engineering consulting firms in the country.Role accountabilities:In this role, you will lead multi-discipline project teams to meet clients' expectations for the planning, design, and construction of projects that can include water/wastewater treatment plants, stormwater systems, distribution/collection systems, and/or pump/lift stations as well as leading a team in creating construction documents, specifications, and handling construction administration and managing construction oversight.Responsibilities include:
- Work directly with clients to determine needs, develop the right strategies, and provide solutions, and then manage the client's expectations throughout the project lifecycle to achieve the desired benefits and outcomes.
- Lead the planning, management, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, while directing and training engineering staff.
- Project Manager or design lead for projects of different levels of complexity and size.
- Supervise and support the work of others.
- Mentor/coach junior staff.
- Assist teams in the preparation of winning proposals and interviews.
- Develop scopes of work and budgets.
- Support account teams in identifying, tracking, and positioning for opportunities.
- Develop relationships and/or provide guidance on teaming partners for pursuits.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in project management, engineering or consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or the ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months.
Key Skills and Attributes
- Project leadership (Project Manager, Task Manager, Design Lead or Technical Lead) experience on stormwater, water, or wastewater projects of various sizes.
- Project Management experience on projects of various sizes.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about technical challenges.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving design reports, project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Client relationship skills; including strong listening skills, ability to define problems and project scopes of work, preparation and development of proposals and managing client expectations, developing and then leading presentations, with a successful track record of delivering various engineering projects to the expectations of the client.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 or more years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market.
- Master of Science or Master of Engineering in related field.
- Client-facing experience with the ability to develop and execute projects with rapidly changing priorities.
- Experience with alternative project delivery methods such as Design-Built or Construction Manager at Risk.
- Active participation in regional and/or national professional associations.
