**Location: Navasota, Texas**
**Reports To: Director of Information Technology**
The Systems Administrator/Senior Systems Administrator is a member of the Information Technology team at STgenetics. This position is responsible for installation, optimization, integration, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, patching, modification, security, documentation and upgrading of IT systems and components to provide services that enable both internal and external business requirements. Working collaboratively with other information technology staff and contractors, this role functions as a proactive administrator who can also solve complex day-to-day IT problems.
The Systems Administrator will need, at minimum, a strong background using Microsoft Windows in physical and virtual environments. The Senior Systems Administration will also possess a background in RedHat Linux. The position requires an understanding of architecture fundamentals and utilizing automation technology to deploy OS patches, ability to provision new machines, manage configuration states, deploy new solutions, and troubleshoot existing on-prem and cloud deployments, ensuring maximum uptime and service stability.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES of the WINDOWS SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR:**
* Responsible for the installation, configuration, ongoing monitoring, and administration of Windows Server Operating System 2008-2019 and its related software.
* Manages Group Policy Objects (GPO) throughout the Active Directory across different domains in the MS Windows environment.
* Troubleshoots Windows Server performance issues and reviews server logs for root cause analysis with recommended solutions. Resolves escalated Windows and server applications incident tickets, serving as part of the after-hours support on a rotating basis.
* Responsible for developing and maintaining Organization Units (OU) and managing user security using group policies according to company guidelines
* Responsible for keeping servers fully patched, including hot fixes, according to the MS patch monthly release cycle and company guidelines.
* Develops and maintains system level documentation for the support of business processes.
* Participates in the periodic disaster recovery test and conducts system maintenance activities.
* Participates in Change Management decision-making with other team members.
* Is responsible for compliance with STgenetics Security Policy for account provisioning/de-provisioning/access control, password length and complexity, MFA, and all other Security Policies
* Cross trains other team members within and across Information Technology teams to ensure knowledge of the Windows Systems.
**ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES of the SENIOR SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR:**
* In addition to the duties of the Windows System Administrator, the Senior System Administrator will be able to perform the same duties and responsibilities for RedHat Linux machines in the physical and virtual environment, and
* Possess understanding of Linux scripting languages (Shell scripting, Perl, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
**Minimum qualifications**
**EDUCATION**
* Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
* MCSA Certifications required
**EXPERIENCE**
* Minimum three years of system administration experience in a Windows Server environment, including experience administering in Microsoft Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPO), patching, backup and recovery.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
* Administration of Microsoft Windows/RedHat Linux in both physical and virtualized (VMware) environments
* Must work concurrently on multiple projects, adjust to occasional significant changes in priorities, and respond efficiently and effectively to emergency situations
* Must be able to work occasional evenings and/or weekends during change windows outside of normal business hours
* Excellent problem solving, attention to detail, multitasking, communication, and complex troubleshooting skills are required to work in this dynamic environment
* Effective written and verbal communication skills. Must assist, guide, and share information with technical and non-technical personnel
* Must be able to work well with others in a cooperative work environment
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
* Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and greater with Red Hat RHCSA/RHCE or equivalent industry-standard certifications
* Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD or modern application frameworks utilizing automation technology
* Ability to gather project requirements, develop detailed project plans, schedule and execute the project tasks
* Knowledge of management/deployment tools
* Ability to install, modify, integrate, and configure commercial and open-source software applications and utilities
