Work includes design, operation and maintenance of Windows servers and associated devices; analysis and installation of a variety of hardware and software applications; troubleshooting and resolving problems; designing and ensuring network security. This position works closely with the IT Director to evaluate vulnerabilities and risks in hardware and software and the Network Engineer regarding network vulnerabilities. Manages and monitors attacks and intrusions. Work is performed under general supervision and is evaluated through conferences, reports, and the effectiveness of automated systems. JOB SUMMARY Performs professional and technical work developing, implementing and supporting an automated information system for the City. Essential Duties and TasksESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Implements and maintains servers including web servers, ftp servers, file servers, and database servers.
- Keeps Windows servers updated including major Server OS Upgrades and regular windows updates to Servers and computers.
- Performs security administration and disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Oversees operating system upgrades, application installations and upgrades, systems backups and data recovery.
- Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software problems for the servers, operating systems, and software packages.
- Assists with management of the City communications network; configures active directory; loads and configures servers.
- Maintains daily activity logs in ticketing system; provides detailed documentation of all tickets.

Physical Requirements/Special RequirementsPHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medical insurance is provided to full-time employees at a minimal cost and pro-rated for part-time employees.
