Server Engineer II
Summary: The Intersect Group is seeking an experienced Server Engineer for our direct banking client, where you will secure, monitor and maintain a primarily Microsoft client/ server environment. You'll be asked to recommend new hardware, tools, applications and processes to enhance the current structure and accommodate for growth, and assist with new implementations and own the project when necessary.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Installation, configuration and upgrading of Windows Server software and corresponding applications.
- Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures.
- Developing and implementing administration policies and procedures including subsystem security guidelines.
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
- Business Application tuning and performance monitoring.
- Develop automation of processes where applicable utilizing scripting tools.
- Enhance monitoring and logging functions of Server Applications.
- Clarify application objectives with App Owners to streamline and improve existing processes.
- Implement standard distributable reports.
- Authoring documentation to describe installation and operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Skills and Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5 years' experience in lieu of Degree acceptable
- Certification is a plus; MCSE, MCITP, MCSA.
- Expertise in administration of Microsoft 365, Windows Server 2019-2022, Active Directory, Exchange and SQL Server.
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex problems.
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Windows Server.
- Experience in implementing operational automation using PowerShell scripts.
- Knowledge of WhatsUpGold, BackupExec, Langard and Symantec products.
- Experience working with Windows Server Group Policy.
- Documentation skills for processes and procedures.
- Must have good communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Must be willing to work after-hours
- Must have good problem analysis and resolution skills
- Must have strong organization and prioritization skills
- Must be able to interface with users/customers
- Must be able to lift and move equipment as necessary.
