Weare looking for the right person to assist our culinary team with thepresentation of our nutritious and delicious culinary program for our residents. We specialize in assisted living and memorycare. Highgate Senior Living's mission is to devote ourselves to help eachresident live a life of purpose and each of us plays a crucial role in doingso. We operate communities in the western US and are seeking the right Serverto join our team. This position maybe fulltime or parttime and includes working directly with our culinary teamand residents to deliver beautifully presented, fresh and temperatureappropriate meals. Because we are aseniors housing setting that cares for vulnerable adults, this position isnot eligible to receive tips, gifts, or gratuities from our residents. You are offered a generous, stable hourlywage, you are given a predictable work schedule that doesn't include longevenings and your workload will be easily manageable. You also can build long lasting relationshipswith your customers and have the chance to learn from those who have livedlong, meaningful lives and have fantastic stories and life experience to share. The successful candidate will be motivated by service, an organized anddetail-oriented individual with a positive and self-motivated attitude. Youmust have good communication skills and be willing to work hard. SKILLS NEEDED:
  • Confidence to engage with seniors, individuallyand in small groups
  • Basic culinary skills andcomfortability being in the kitchen
  • Safety awareness in work habits
  • Ability to operate different types ofkitchen equipment
  • Calm demeanor in times of pressure
  • Comfortability to interact withresidents that have varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities
  • Able to take direction and coachingfrom others
  • Team player with ability to developstrong working relationships along with customer service focus
  • Ability to adapt/respond quickly tothe needs and preferences of our residents
  • An understanding or the willingness togain an understanding of the various forms of dementia and how to helpresidents with dementia still live with purpose
RELATABLE EXPERIENCE:
  • Experiences where you have worked in a culinary environment
  • Past roles in which you have been taskedwith providing excellent customer service
  • Jobs you've had that include workingwith seniors or other vulnerable populations
  • Previous service-based positions inhealthcare, hospitality, or hotels
  • Prior volunteer work or other work withvulnerable groups of people
  • Jobs that included completing tasklists
QUALIFICATIONS 1- At least 18 years of age 2- Experience in the kitchen 3- Current negative TB test 4- Willingness to learn how to work in ahealthcare/assisted living environment 5- Ability to pass criminalrecord/background check 6- Good time management skills 7- Must be able to work wellindependently with little oversight As an organization we offer our team members agood benefits package, the ability to be heard, have their opinions count andthe opportunity to innovate. Ourcompensation package will be flexible for this role based on the credentialing,tenure and skill sets each candidate brings for consideration. The starting hourly wage range for thisposition is $16.50 to 21.00 per hour. Prior experience in culinary ispreferred. A passion for your work and acommitment to serving others are essential job qualifications.
