Department: Golf Operations Part-time: Hourly/Tipped - Non-exempt
Position Description
The Randall Oaks Golf Course Server performs duties under the direct supervision of the F&B Manager and Golf Professionals. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to setting and clearing tables, taking food and beverage orders, and serving guests in a timely and professional manner. This is an at-will position.
Essential Responsibilities
- Greets guests/patrons warmly, takes food and beverage orders in an efficient manner, following established steps of service.
- Serves food orders quickly, accurately and without waste according to patron requirements.
- Demonstrates complete understanding of menu items and ingredients. Advises guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested; accommodates reasonable request and notes preferences.
- Verifies with patrons, that food/beverage expectations are met or exceeded.
- Verifies identification of customers to ensure age minimum requirements for the purchase and consumption of alcohol products.
- Monitors consumption of alcohol and behavior according to established BASSET (or equivalent) procedures.
- Sets work areas/banquet rooms and equipment prior to service. Breaks down and cleans area at the end of shift, following established side-work duties.
- Follows established proper food handling and sanitation procedures, maintaining sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
- Complies with all safety and loss prevention policies.
- Inform supervisor of any unsafe conditions or hazardous work procedures.
- Correct any unsafe conditions, if possible, and instruct co-workers on safety procedures.
- Completes all additional duties as prescribed by management.
- Assists other Park District employees when needed.
- Other non-essential duties as assigned.
Communication & Customer Service
- Develops and maintains positive and effective working relationship with coworkers and to promote and maintain high morale and enthusiasm.
- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Communicates matters of importance in a timely manner.
- Makes recommendations to management for improvements and efficiencies.
- Employee represents the Dundee Township Park District in a professional manner.
Safety & Risk Management
- Maintains a working knowledge of all general and departmental-specific safety rules.
- Uses material handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and/or moving objects 50 pounds or heavier.
- Reports any work-related injuries to supervisor promptly.
- Immediately reports all accidents and unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Attends all required safety program and in-service education meetings.
- Corrects unsafe conditions, if possible, alerts co-workers to potential unsafe conditions and/or reports them to supervisor.
- Instructs co-workers, when necessary, on safety procedures or precautions.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to obtain BASSET alcohol training and Food Handler certifications within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Excellent customer service skills; verbal communication skills and listening skills.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Good physical condition, sufficient strength, and mobility required.
- Mechanical aptitude required, including the use of tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Knowledge and skills in technology, or the ability to learn.
- Ability to learn additional software and systems required for business transactions.
- Reading, writing, speaking and understanding English language.
- Possess good problem solving skills and has capacity to act rationally and calmly in high stress and/or emergency situations.
- Ability to work a varied schedule including some nights and weekends as required.
- Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to execute the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Hours Standards
This is a part time non-exempt position.
- January through December (dependent on when course and clubhouse are open)
- 2 to 5 days per week; 6 to 8 hours per day
- Weekend or holiday hours may be required as well as extended hours as needed.
