    Job Summary:

    Our Server team members are our brand ambassadors, ensuring guests experience a fun, relaxed and exceptional dining experience. Servers are expected to be approachable, friendly, hospitable and professional, ensuring Paraiso's service standards are properly executed. Servers are responsible for ensuring our guests receive the best dining experience through execution of steps of service.

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve guests in a professional and positive manner, including but not limited to guest food and beverage orders, delivery of food and beverage and ensuring exceptional dining experience.
  • Utilize Paraiso's steps of service, up-selling techniques and proper menu knowledge guiding guests to daily specials, ensuring dietary needs are met.
  • Greet guests as they arrive, ensuring proper seating arrangements and reservations check-in or providing a proper wait-list time, if necessary.
  • Engage with guests to ensure a great dining experience.
  • Embrace the Paraiso culture and participate in collective proper company greeting.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in a positive and professional manner with guests and team members.
  • Ensure cleanliness of service station, including any area visible to guests upon seating.
  • Support team members in front of house operations.
  • Respond to minor guest complaints and alert management of any major or critical guests or service concerns.
  • Know restaurant information, such as hours of operations, menu, allergies, table numbers, payment options and any relevant information to the operations of the restaurant.
  • Promote and execute Paraiso's core values of Teamwork, Hospitality, Authenticity, Creativity, and Integrity.
  • Complete projects and/or tasks as requested or required by manager(s) or supervisor(s).
  • REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Minimum 2-3 years server experience, preferably in a high-volume atmosphere.
  • Outstanding and professional verbal and written skills; with strong ability to multi-task.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Willing to follow instructions and ask questions for clarification, if needed.
  • Understand or experience in operating POS system or Host System (OpenTable or similar).
  • Ability to lead by example, inspire and motivate team spirit.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Able to safely lift and easily maneuver through restaurant with limited space.
  • Required Education:

  • Be able to write and speak English.
  • Must have appropriate city, state and federal certifications according to location of restaurant, including alcohol and food handling certificates.
  • Work Environment:

    This job operates in a fun yet professional restaurant environment. This role routinely moves inside and outside of the kitchen and operates tools such as trays, glassware, plates, and other restaurant equipment.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by our team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk and hear. The team member is required to frequently stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Team member must be able to distinguish between sweet, savory and other food flavors. Team member will work in an indoor and outdoor environment, which might be hot, humid, and wet. Be able to reach, bend, and frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds.
