Job SummaryThe Server's role is to provide Guest First service at all times, making the Guest the center of all they do. This includes friendly and timely interaction with Guests and Team Members, creating perfect orders, answering questions, taking and delivering the Guests' order, cooperative service, and following up to ensure each Guest receives their correct food and/or drink order. Every Guest is made to feel welcome at all times. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- To know and follow posted schedule and strict adherence to posted clock in/out times.
- Adherence to company uniform and grooming policies
- Timely and courteous service to Willie's guests in his or her station as well as other tables in the restaurant.
- Thorough knowledge of menu items, wines, beers, and cocktails
- Adherence to company, state, and county sanitation standards
- Maintains a clean and organized workstation
- Maintains friendly, helpful, positive attitude
- Knows and follows Willie's operating policies
- Adheres to Willie's steps of service
- Welcomes and greets Guests following established service guidelines
- Ready and willing to assist fellow Team Members in meeting Guest needs
- Answers questions and makes recommendations about our food, beverages, features, and other restaurant functions and services
- Clearly understands the correct process in serving Guests with allergens
- Takes food and beverage orders from Guests, repeating order for Guest confirmation. Correctly enters the order in our point-of-sale system following established ringing guidelines
- Follows alcohol awareness procedures to prevent Guest intoxication; notifies Manager on Duty with any questions surrounding alcohol service to Guests
- Delivers food and beverages to Guests
- Assists other Bartenders & Servers in taking care of Guests, providing cooperative service
- Monitors and observes the Guests' dining experience, ensuring Guests are satisfied with their food, beverage, and service. Pre-busses throughout the dining experience. Responds promptly and courteously to any requests
- Prepares final bill, presents check to Guest, accepts payment (including coupons and gift cards), processes credit card charges or makes change (if applicable). Turns in required amount of cash and charge vouchers daily. Follows established cash handling procedures
- Thanks Guests for their visit and invites them to return
- Participates in the clearing and resetting of dining room tables
- Assists other servers, BOH team, and counter/bartenders in their tasks when necessary
- Responsible for all side work and cleaning duties outlined in the restaurant
- Carries out all other duties as assigned by management
- Attends all company meetings, training seminars as required
- Performs side work at the start, throughout, and end of each shift as required
- Performs all duties and responsibilities according to the Company's written employee handbook, including Performance Expectations and Dress/Style/Grooming Guidelines
- Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all Guest service issues. Takes prompt corrective action as appropriate
- Treats all Guests, Team Members, and Managers with the greatest degree of respect and courtesy
- Maintains a friendly and cooperative attitude while at work
- Portrays a favorable image of Willie's Grill and Icehouse at all times
- Performs related tasks as assigned by Restaurant Management
QualificationsEDUCATION/TRAINING/WORK EXPERIENCE
- 6 mos. to 2 years related experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Alcohol Certification required
- Food Handler's Certificate as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to see, hear, read, and write in English. Basic math and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction
- Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests, other employees and managers
- Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
- Ability to manage his or her own workflow and resolve questions and problems with supervisor
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and/or walk throughout the entire shift and work in a restaurant environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- While performing the duties, this position is regularly required to stand and walk; talk or hear, in person and by telephone; uses hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel or operate restaurant equipment
