Volunteers of America is one of the nation's largest comprehensive human services organizations with 16,000 mission-driven professionals, dedicated to helping those in need rebuild their lives and reach their full potential.What You Will DoAs the Service Coordinator, you will be the liaison between our community residents, health care providers and social service agencies. Our Service Coordinator works in conjunction with the Community Administrator and other management staff of the property. You will assume responsibility for the service management function within assigned properties, including: development of contact with service providers, educating residents of resource availability, and monitoring provisions of services. This is an on-site position in a housing community setting. Typical hours of operation of the property are 8-5 Monday through Friday. This role will work a part-time schedule, working approximately 16 hours each week, during these hours.What's In It For You!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists and advises residents and families of the services which may be necessary to maintain a self-reliant lifestyle & promote wellness activities for all residents.
- Educates residents, families, and staff on available community resources.
- May assist residents or coordinate training for residents in understanding lease and tenancy obligations.
- Educates residents on service availability, application procedures, residents rights, etc. both individually and as a group.
- Sets up volunteer support programs with service organizations in the community.
QualificationsWhat You Will Bring:
- 3 years working with aging adults in a direct service capacity and/or a Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a concentration in Social Work, Gerontology, Psychology or Public Health.
- Knowledge of the aging process, elder services, disability services, drug and alcohol abuse and mental health issues.
- Ability to be on call 24 hours per day, seven days per week and to respond to emergencies after hours.
- Possess strong organizational, planning, problem-solving, and time management skills, in addition to, strong advocacy capabilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with members, clients' family, external stakeholders, and employees.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues while protecting others' welfare.
