Watch now to learn more about The Pond Guy: Job DescriptionOur Service Equipment Technician is a critical contributor to providing our customers with quality service. There is a family dynamic at The Pond Guy that extends to the customer as we strive to give them the highest quality service possible.Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.
- Complete service calls for customers regarding their pond/lake equipment and lead installations of complete systems
- Prepare and modify pond sites for equipment installation, including excavation, landscaping, and structural adjustments
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding the status of their pond systems, required maintenance, and any issues encountered, and develop resolutions for customer concerns regarding service calls and installations
- Electronically complete service notes, including work orders/inventory used at visit, and communicate repair trends to quality
- Perform vehicle, equipment, and shop audits; verify checklists to ensure proper cleaning and storage procedures are being followed before and after routes
- Follow and enforce all safety procedures regarding products, install equipment, service equipment, electrical knowledge, and safety devices
- Maintain a high level of communication with Service Office staff to ensure customer satisfaction
- Foster a continuous learning environment for all Service Technician Assistants through mentoring, training, and using development plans that are currently in place, as well as, creating new educational opportunities
- Maintain professionalism while on-site or in the field representing The Pond Guy
- Ensure shop cleanliness is maintained and complete grounds maintenance/general building maintenance as required
Job RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:
- Mechanical maintenance background required
- Technically and mechanically oriented required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to drive a truck and trailer will be required after training
- Experience operating heavy machinery a plus
- Proficient computer knowledge
- Knowledge in basic pond management as well as fish and wildlife health behaviors a plus
- Cross-train on pond management by obtaining state certification as a chemical applicator
- High School degree, college degree preferred
Because this position provides a variety of tasks, the physical requirements are required for both an in-office and in-the-field environment. This position also requires the ability to swim, manual dexterity for working with small components, ability to complete repetitive motions for long periods of time, bending, continual lifting, lowering and carrying packages that typically weigh 25 - 50 lbs. and managing packages up to 150 lbs as well as standing/stooping for long periods of time. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc. for portions of the position that may be completed in these circumstances. We need a Service Equipment Technician that has a positive attitude and the words can't and impossible are not a part of your vocabulary. You'll need the ability to learn quickly and retain a large amount of information and offer exceptional customer service. This person should continually add value to the organization beyond their day-to-day tasks.AvailabilityWhile this is a year-round position, during the months of April - September, there will be opportunities for overtime, and you must be available to work between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday-Friday. This equates to an average of 40-50 hours per week. During peak season there are little to no Saturdays. The remaining months will have a Monday-Friday schedule. CompensationThis is a full-time hourly position starting at $20-22/hour with benefits. Benefits include:
