Job Description:

Mendon is a Full-Service Truck Leasing and Commercial Truck Rental in the New York metropolitan area. We are searching for a Service Manager to work in our Newark, NJ location.

The Service Manager manages the shop floor and handles administrative tasks resulting from preventative maintenance and repairs. This role works closely with the foreman and technicians to ensure the service department contributes effectively to align business objectives and customers' demands. Ultimately, you'll help us increase the percentage of fleet inventory available for rental requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Delegate and direct service tasks including preventative maintenance scheduling, monitoring the progress of current projects, and managing team members to ensure the team's objectives and goals are met.
  • Handle customer complaints or concerns regarding services, products, or personnel quickly and professionally to maintain good customer relationships and ensure repeat customers.
  • Assisting with or performing administrative tasks, such as managing and updating Repair Order's, processing Repair Order in CDK, and supporting the Branch Manager in tasks.
  • Validate and close CDK Repair Orders.
  • Assist during the hiring, training, and evaluation of personnel
  • Speak with customers about inspections and recommended service. Write work orders for needed repairs.
  • Give a complete and accurate written cost estimate for parts and labor.
  • Order parts and communicate the timeline for repairs to customers.
  • Assure effective communication with customers, Foreman, and Technicians
  • Work with company officials to develop methods and procedures to increase sales, expand markets, and promote business
  • Sales, inventory-taking, and reconciling cash receipts
  • Plan and prepare work schedules and assign associates to specific duties
  • Attend company meetings to exchange product information and coordinate work activities with other departments
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports for management and budget departments
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by Branch Manager

Requirements:

  • A least 3 years of previous work experience in diesel shop maintenance required
  • Strong written/oral communication and people management skills required
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Associate degree (business or technical) or Vo-Tech Graduate preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in the use of Gmail, Word and Excel
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
