This is an onsite position at our Philadelphia Distilling location in Philadelphia, PA.

What the Role Is

Philadelphia Distilling is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Service Manager to enhance the quality and efficiency of our tasting room service. This role involves collaborating with the bar manager and event coordinator under the guidance of the general manager. The Service Manager will oversee a team of bartenders and hosts, ensuring exceptional customer service, effective staff management, and smooth operations.

The Service Manager is expected to be a proactive leader, ready to tackle unforeseen challenges and diverse daily tasks. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the tasting room experience, ensuring it remains relevant and exciting.

How You Will Spend Your Time?

Customer Service:

• Engage with guests to ensure they have an enjoyable experience.
• Collaborate with the host team to develop and maintain positive relationships with guests.
• Oversee the execution of private events, ensuring adherence to our high standards.

Staff Management:

• Hire, train, and supervise tasting room staff.
• Schedule staff and adjust staffing levels throughout shifts as needed.
• Provide constructive feedback to hourly employees on their performance.

Operations Management:

• Open and close the tasting room as needed.
• Prepare pre-shift notes and brief the team for daily service.
• Compile end-of-day reports, manage comps/voids, and handle financials.
• Manage inventory of flatware, plateware, and other operational essentials.
• Assist with repairs and maintenance issues.

Policy Compliance:

• Enforce house policies through proactive education and corrective actions when necessary.
• Lead by example in all aspects of work.

Who You Are…

• High School Diploma/GED Equivalent required
• 1-3 years of hospitality experience required
• RAMP Certified (or willingness to complete certification in the first 30 days)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Square (or other restaurant POS system) and Open Table
• Full time availability including nights, weekends and holidays as required

Physical Requirements

While performing duties of job, employee is frequently required to speak, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, and use of computer; reach with hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.

Philadelphia Distilling has a 100-seat tasting room, an 80-seat enclosed patio, and a 65-seat 4th floor private events space. We run a regular bar service Thursday-Sunday, often with concurrent private events. We host a number of full-buyout corporate events and Weddings in addition to our smaller events.
