The Service Sales – Food & Dairy individual is responsible for promoting and securing the sale of spare parts, repairs, field service, upgrades, customized service projects, and service level agreements for the North America service business. This role involves the development and implementation of a group-wide sales strategy, ensuring a coordinated customer approach with counterparts in New Sales to effect and realize joint opportunities.
Responsibilities / Tasks
- Collaborate with the Director of Service Sales and other business areas to fine-tune and implement the service sales strategy for the Food & Dairy segment.
- Lead service sales activities, prioritize initiatives, and manage the service sales planning, forecasting, and reporting for the respective area.
- Align with new equipment/project sales teams to ensure a coordinated sales approach.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for service sales while actively managing key customer accounts.
- Partner with the new equipment sales team to identify “up-sell” and “cross-sell” opportunities to maximize revenue and enhance the overall customer experience.
- Represent GEA Service – Food & Dairy – North America professionally in the areas of spare parts, repairs, field service, upgrades, and a wide range of service products aimed at improving operational performance for customers.
- Travel to potential and existing clients to secure opportunities and orders/agreement for the responsible portfolio of products and services, including necessary presentations/demonstrations as required.
- Promote small to medium scale projects and large plant Service Level Agreements.
- Provide quotes, follow up, and ensure timely execution of sales.
- Participate in negotiations of offers, quotations, and contracts (T&Cs).
- Develop the correct sales contacts/approach and final proposal in consultation with appropriate GEA parties to offer the best value proposal to customers.
- Utilize and implement sales tools; ensure frequent updates.
- Participate in trade shows to promote equipment service sales activity along with new equipment sales.
- Provide market feedback (competition, trends, etc.) to equipment and service sales management.
- Leverage all available GEA resources to generate sales, including collaboration with new equipment sales personnel, field service technicians, and product specialists.
Your Profile / Qualifications
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for face-to-face meetings to convey, convince, and negotiate service sales.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in service sales or capital equipment sales.
- Working knowledge of the beverage industry and manufacturing processes/equipment for low acid products; knowledge in aseptic processing and powder packaging is a plus.
- Experience in remote work and comfort with frequent travel (up to 75% of the time; some international travel may be required).
- In-depth knowledge of service offerings and local market requirements for different customer groups.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong communicator across various levels, functions, brands, and cultures.
- Proven ability to build and maintain close relationships and networks with customers (decision-makers, influencers, gatekeepers, buyers).
- Capable of implementing strategic service sales plans and gaining trust from customers while predicting customer and competitor actions.
- Naturally entrepreneurial with a clear drive and strong customer focus.
- Ability to remain composed and effective under stress and demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges.
Education/Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business Management preferred (relevant experience with a demonstrated track record of success accepted in lieu).
