Field Service TechnicianThe role of a Field Service Technician is essential to providing technical expertise to the project and sales teams as well as VLS customers. Field Service Technician performs testing and energizing of control systems supplied by VLS; bench repair of electrical and electronic equipment, as well as in-field service, training, and repair of existing systems. Field service technicians also provide customer support via phone, email, or in person, maintain and update record of customer service tickets, and help execute equipment designs for our Systems Integration groups.Reports to: Director of Project DeliveryDuties and Responsibilities:
- System Start-up Services for various lighting and control systems.
- Conduct End user training sessions on Lighting Systems, Lighting Consoles, and equipment supplied by VLS
- Field Service Repairs on VLS supplied equipment and other customer equipment.
- Phone support for VLS supplied systems and Service call related issues.
- Respond to and follow up to completion, customer service tickets assigned by Field Service Coordinator
- Maintain complete and accurate System startup documentation.
- Bench repairs
- Provide technical knowledge to the Sales, Project Management, and Estimation teams to ensure correct selection and installation of supplied products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education:
- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with lighting control system configuration and programming desirable
- Experience with theatrical systems a plus
- ETCP Electrician Certification preferred. Candidate must agree to obtain ETCP certification within 12 months of hiring.
- Must have good organizational skills, being prompt and accurate in submitting service reports for invoicing and project close out, as well as monthly expense reports.
- Must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Must have excellent customer service skills (both written and verbal).
- Must be able to pass 5-panel drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a Background Check for work in schools.
Travel Requirement:This position requires frequent travel within the regular VLS sales territory and occasional travel for National Projects within the continental United States. These trips can range from single-day to weeklong trips. Mileage and applicable expenses will be reimbursed per VLS policies.
