Service Technician I
Primary Purpose:
The Service Technician I is responsible for loading and / or unloading drums and containers from trucks and processing and / or storing hazardous waste materials.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
* Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
* Loads and / or unloads drums and containers from trucks; processes and / or stores hazardous waste materials
* Weighs and breaks down large containers into smaller containers
* Completes inspection and mechanical placement of drums on conveyor and completes the manual placement of buckets from pallet to carriage
* Drives forklift to retrieve drums and containers from storage and operates computer and conveyor
* Transports / positions trailers and tankers for collection of slag and ash
* Pumps out containers of liquid
* Transfers material from tank to tank using a centrifugal pump
* Maintains a clean work area
* Completes other duties as assigned
Education:
* High-school diploma or equivalent (required)
Experience:
* Previous experience operating a fork truck (preferred)
* HAZWOPER certificate or previous fire-fighting experience (preferred)
Competencies:
* Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
* Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen
* Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
* Ability to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
* Ability to participate in Emergency Response and Fire Brigade
* Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
