A Service Technician;s primary responsibility is to independently perform complex diagnostic, service repairs and maintainence work on customer and/or dealer-owned agriculture and turf equipment. May require some direction or guidance from th Service Manager or Shop Foreman.BTI is a premier agriculture and farm equipment dealership serving central and western Kansas. - Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere equipment and technology
- Reports any additional work required on equipment to ensure proper operation and safety
- Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information
- Keeping records required to establish cost of parts and labor charge to customer
- Performs diagnostics and repairs in the field as required
- Handle customer issues objectively and tactfully
- Answer service phone calls and assisting the customer accordingly
- Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
- Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
- Participate in John Deere training courses and other continuing education classes, as assigned
- Perform related and other duties, as assigned
Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred.
- Valid driver's license is required
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience performing mechanical service repairs required
- Ag Tech Graduate or 2 years of John Deere experience preferred
- Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment, following Technical Manual procedures
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
- Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes
- Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred
- Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
