SUMMARYUnder supervision, the Service Technician will clean, install, service, repair and/or refurbish complex vacuum equipment and systems such as pumps, helium leak detectors, and other electronic instruments both at our own Service Center and at the customers' site, as necessary. Additionally, he/she will use a wide range of hand and power tools, measuring devices, meters, and scopes to install, test, and trouble shoot and repair equipment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Will strictly adhere to all Quality and Safety procedures of the Company.
  • Will use a wide range of hand and power tools including measuring devices, meters, and scopes.
  • Performs documentation such as daily timesheets, service documentation, HR compliance updates, safety training and certification, etc.
  • Tasks in the primary clean room are as follows:
  • Will take readings of failure codes and warnings to help determine failure mode or mechanism of the pump.
  • Disassembling the equipment.
  • Confirming customer complaint of returning equipment.
  • Decontaminating the equipment (using parts cleaners, degreasers, high pressure wash equipment, ultrasonic cleaners as well as blast media).
  • May need to help with equipment maintenance, as requested.
  • Will install, service, repair and refurbish complex equipment and systems in a service center.
  • Installs and repairs equipment in customer vacuum pumps.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry via ERP system), attention to detail and accuracy. Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job. Additionally, must be able to manipulate small and large tools to make both fine and major adjustments to intricate test apparatus and equipment. The person in this job must be able to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. The position requires regular lifting of 25-pound equipment. Employee must be medically cleared to wear the required PPE. Employee is expected to use the required PPE for several hours at a time to complete an evaluation. Requirements also include the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, being a self-starter, motivated, creative, flexible, self-confident, deadline oriented and able to multi-task.Education and/or ExperienceRequires an AA degree and/or 0 - 1 related years of experience in the Service and Repair field of electronic or mechanical equipment. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the assembly of such equipment is necessary.Language SkillsEssential functions require the ability to read, write and speak English. A Team Lead may require technical writing skills if asked to write repair procedures.Mathematical SkillsBasic mathematical skills required including the ability to accurately use scales and measurement equipment.Reasoning AbilityWill work on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required, normally will receive detailed instructions on all work.Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsNone requiredTOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENTThis position uses a computer extensively with demonstrated abilities in the use of Microsoft products as well as other common office type equipment. Additionally, this position requires competency use of a wide range of hand and power tools, measurement, and calibration equipment.WORK ENVIRONMENTThis position will work both mostly in a service center with infrequent tasking at customer sites.
