SUMMARY

Under supervision, the Service Technician will clean, install, service, repair and/or refurbish complex vacuum equipment and systems such as pumps, helium leak detectors, and other electronic instruments both at our own Service Center and at the customerssite, as necessary. Additionally, he/she will use a wide range of hand and power tools, measuring devices, meters, and scopes to install, test, and trouble shoot and repair equipment.

Duties:

  • Will clean, install, service, repair and refurbish complex equipment and systems in a service center (frequent), and at a field site (infrequent).
  • Will strictly adhere to all Quality and Safety procedures of the Company, including those at customer sites if applicable, and must abide by the corporate Code of Conduct in all situations.
  • Uses a wide range of hand and power tools, measuring devices, meters, and scopes to install, test, trouble shoot and repair equipment.
  • Serves as in-house resource on technical and service-related problems.
  • Records activities and completes necessary documentation.
  • Tasks in the primary clean room are as follows:
  • Disassembling the equipment
  • Confirming customer complaint of returning equipment
  • Documenting findings
  • Decontaminating the equipment (using parts cleaners, degreasers, high pressure wash equipment, ultrasonic cleaners as well as blast media)
  • Using of multiple hand tools
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Physical Demands

    Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, and frequent lifting. Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry via ERP system), attention to detail and accuracy. Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other employees, vendors, and customers. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this job.

    Additionally, must be able to manipulate small and large tools to make both fine and major adjustments to intricate test apparatus and equipment. The person in this job must be able to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. The position requires regular lifting of 25-pound equipment. Employee must be medically cleared to wear the required PPE. Employee is expected to use the required PPE for several hours at a time to complete an evaluation. Secondary duties with added requirements may be assigned from time to time.

    Qualifications

    Additional requirements include knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Windows as well as general background working with computers and office equipment (copiers, etc.) and accurately performing data entry. The work within the Service Center requires general mechanical and electrical aptitude. The person must also be to follow repair instructions and testing techniques. Requirements also include the ability to work in a team-oriented environment, being a self-starter, motivated, creative, flexible, self-confident, deadline oriented and able to multi-task.

    Education and/or Experience

    AA degree and/or 0 2 related experiences in the Service and Repair field of electronic or electro-mechanical equipment. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the assembly and troubleshooting of such equipment is necessary.

    Language Skills

    Essential functions require the ability to read, write and speak English. Technical writing skills may be necessary if asked to write repair procedures.

    Mathematical Skills

    Basic mathematical skills required including the ability to accurately use scales and measurement equipment.

    Reasoning Ability

    Will work on assignments that are routine in nature where limited judgment is required, normally will receive detailed instructions on all work.

    TOOLS AND/OR EQUIPMENT

    This position uses a computer extensively with demonstrated abilities in the use of Microsoft products as well as other common office type equipment. Additionally, this position requires competency use of a wide range of hand and power tools, measurement, and calibration equipment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This position will work both mostly in a service center with infrequent tasking at customer sites. Indoor and climate controlled industrial environment.
