Job Type Full-timeDescriptionService Technician is responsible for repairing, programming and inspecting existing security systems of varying complexities. This role requires an understanding of basic electronics, wiring circuits, basic troubleshooting methods, and a good understanding of basic test equipment use. A successful candidate for this role will have excellent customer service skills and excellent troubleshooting skills. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform repairs, inspection, and programming of basic to high complexity systems.
- Perform routine scheduled system inspections, preventative maintenance inspections and general break fix calls.
- Perform light installations as required for small add-ons or deletions.
- Perform system removals as needed.
- Test operation of system to confirm compliance to original scope of work, 100% functionality and customer's satisfaction.
- Mark up as-built drawings, system documentation and device schedules to keep internal documentation current with changes.
- Assist Project Managers and Installation Technicians with IT coordination, implementation, system commissioning support and final documentation as needed.
- Communicate service job status and small project issues.
- Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, avoid damage to property, track truck stock materials to prevent loss, and clean up debris and work areas.
- Overnight stay and travel while performing service duties at remote job locations and job training when required.
Minimum skills and qualifications:
- Possess a valid state issued driver's license.
- 1-5 years direct industry experience
- Ability to work independently or with a field crew.
- Attention to safety best practices, including ladders and aerial lifts.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Experience troubleshooting Mercury Hardware, Andover Controls, Genetec, Amag, and Axis Cameras highly preferred.
- Meet state qualifications for alarm licensing and electronics security personnel as required.
- Thorough understanding of installation methods, troubleshooting methods, best practices, and procedures
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Understanding of field test equipment and special tools i.e. multimeter, cable tester, fiber kit, etc.
- Understanding of IP networks, network troubleshooting, electronic security technology, building code, and NEC (National electric code.)
- Ability to use basic office software such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
- Must be physically capable of lifting, squatting, bending, pulling and other weight bearing activities of up to 50 lbs.
