Job Description:
OverviewThe Service Technician will perform all related service work and install propane, refined fuel, and lubricant systems. Additionally, this position will install equipment at company and customer locations and complete work orders and inventory cycle counts as directed. This technician will assist in attaining assigned goals for safety, installations, and training. Assuring safety standards are met which comply with all company, local, City, State and Federal guidelines is of the utmost importance for this position.MFA Oil Company is an Equal Opportunity/Drug-Free Employer.ResponsibilitiesProvide prompt and efficient service to all customers, including installation of tanks (propane, refined fuel, and lubricant) and service of existing equipment and systemsWork individually or as part of a crew during construction or installation of any petroleum, propane, or associated equipment at company and customer locationsConduct service work as scheduled, including after-hours emergency serviceClean and maintain equipment assigned to positionPerform work in a safe manner at all times according to company safety proceduresMake sure all out of gas calls are handled according to the company's proceduresProvide home office with required information and records on a timely basisInspect all customer installations (tanks, pumps, regulators, lines, etc.) to assure safe, dependable operationsTroubleshoot, diagnose and repair system and equipment issues as assignedMaintain inventory of fuel-related and non-fuel related parts and equipmentPerform preventative maintenance on equipment as directedEnsure all customer documentation is accurately completed, including service documentation, credit application, propane tank lease and transfersMaintain accurate and complete records of all fixed assets assigned to the plant, including loaned customer equipmentAssist plant manager in establishing all eligible customers as membersDeliver refined fuel and propane products as needed and assignedIdentify and timely communicate to management issues and feedback related to safety, efficiency, training needs and customer needs, questions or concernsCommunicate any necessary changes and/or issues directly to supervisorSafely operate vehicle according to MFA Oil Company policies and guidelines, state and federal transportation laws, and other related regulationsProperly use handheld systems as neededConduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any truck safety issues immediately to supervisor, as well as maintaining truck in a neat and clean conditionBe knowledgeable about all products and services offered by companyPresent a positive image of MFA Oil Company to the community and be knowledgeable about all products and services offered by companySupport and understand company policies and procedures and communicate those to customers as neededFollow posted work schedule and adhere to proper clocking procedures to accurately reflect hours workedAll MFA Oil employees are expected to know and adhere to company and position specific policies and procedures. While this job description contains the primary duties of the position, employees may be expected to perform other duties as assignedJob RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalentTraining and/or experience in truck and equipment maintenanceAbility and willingness to work with hazardous materialsAbility and willingness to become propane (CETP) certified as determined by the state(s) servedAbility and willingness to become MFA Oil crane certifiedValid driver's licenseAbility and willingness to obtain a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker, HAZMAT, and air brake endorsements within the first 90 days of employment, and maintain all Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements per the vehicle requirementsAbility to pass in person training and MFA Oil Company Record of Road test requiring operation of both manual and automatic transmission vehicles within 90 days of employmentAbility to safely operate automatic and manual transmission vehicles in a variety of weather and road conditionsAbility to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including handheld delivery tracking deviceAbility to move and position self to move and retrieve products and supplies from shelves, under counters or stacks of inventory weighing up to 100 poundsAbility to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or sitting) for up to nine hours per shiftAbility to lift 25-pound boxes to a height of 3-4 feet and load them into trucksAbility to ascend and descend ladders in order to deliver fuelAbility to learn new concepts and use technical materialsVision, hearing, speech and ability to detect odorsAbility to consistently drive and work in outdoor weather conditionsAvailability to work a rotating on-call schedule, holidays, weekends, and after regular business as neededReliable transportation to workAbility to exchange accurate information with MFA Oil Company customers in EnglishLegal authorization to work in the United States of America21 years of age or olderAbility to meet company requirements including successful pre-employment drug screening, Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), criminal background check, and MFA Oil Company road testPreferred SkillsMechanical skills (basic plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry)Ability to work both independently and in a team environmentAbility to work under timelines and pressureStrong communication skillsAbility to work at a fast paceSales abilitiesABOUT MFA OIL COMPANYMFA Oil Company, formed in 1929, is a farmer-owned cooperative and a leading propane retailer in the United States.
