General Summary The Service Technician is responsible for routine maintenance and troubleshooting on customers equipment The work schedule for this position is open and flexible day or night shift Sunday through Saturday Primary Responsibilities and Duties Perform service calls for various types of customers and complete all service call paperwork after each callWork with Lead Technicians and other Technicians to prepare equipment for deliveryOperate vehicles on and off customer sites in a manner compliant with company policy and procedureCapable of operating a forklift crane truck small boom truck and flatbed truckSkill set to load and unload small to large fuel and lube tanks onto a lowboyExplain technical issues in a non technical manner to the customerTroubleshoot and repairs gasoline dispensing unitsInstall program and tests new petroleum equipment and perform scheduled repairs and preventative maintenance to fueling systemsAnalyze electrical and mechanical problems and provide repairs as requiredAbility to set the tanks into dikes or on customer sites at designated areasPerform light plumbing on equipment that is delivered to include attaching vent pipes to tanks attaching down tubes to tanks or other light maintenance requirements that arise in the delivery or pick up of equipmentAssist in preparation of equipment at facility warehousePerform customer deliveries & other related truck movements as requiredInstall service and certify 2 post and 4 post liftsInstall and service air compressorsInstall and service tire balancers and other automotive repair equipmentInstall and repair leaks on air lines and oil linesPrepare complete and submit in a timely manner the paperwork requiredEngage in proper loading unloading and secure proceduresCommunicate with your service dispatcher and managerResponsible for the completion of special projects or the assignment of other duties as assigned by the supervisorPosition Requirements Minimum high school diploma or equivalentMust be at least 18 years oldValid State Issued Drivers License with good driving recordKnowledge of the general area in which product will be deliveredAbility to handle multiple tasksLegible handwritingAbility to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and to understand traffic signs to make entries on reports and recordsPossession of a current Medical Examiners certificateKnowledge of procedures to secure cargo in or on a commercial vehicleAbility to successfully complete forklift certification testPosition Competencies Ability to work in a fast paced environment while performing multiple duties and tasksAbility to work independently as well as with a teamAbility to follow company safety and quality procedures and guidelines consistentlyProven ability to complete position responsibilities within the allotted timeframeProduces a caliber of work consistent with departmental operating standardsDetail oriented with a high level of accuracyAbility to work efficientlyEffectively represents the company and is responsive to the needs of internalexternal customers with sense of urgency and commitment to follow upWorking Environment The work of this position is performed in both inside and outside environments in heatcold wethumid and dryarid conditions The position requires the ability to lift push and pull up to 75 lbs Frequent bending stooping and climbing is required In this position associates may be exposed to hazardous materials vapors fumes and extreme weather conditions Proper PPE is provided for employees working in these conditions The above noted job description is not intended to describe in detail the multitude of tasks that may be assigned but rather to give the associate a general sense of the responsibilities and expectations of hisher position As the nature of business demands change so too may the essential functions of this position The McPherson Companies Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer MFVetsDisabled
