Position DetailsPosition Information Job Title CSWS Gallery Assistant- Portland Harbor Community Group Department Moreau Center Terms and Hours Approx 8 hrs/week; Fall and Spring semester Job Category Student Employment Hourly Wage $0.75 above Portland Metro Minimum Wage ($16.70/hour) Job Summary This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package. The mission of Portland Harbor Community Advisory Group (PHCAG) is to support the clean up and restoration of Portland harbor as a liason between the community, government agencies, and industry. Our work bridges communication gaps existing between the technical society and the general public. We provide Superfund Site (PHSS) related educational programming, workshops, and community meetings. It is our hope that our efforts inform and empower citizens to have meaningful conversations about the Willamette River.The Braided River Campaign and PHCAG have a gallery at Lloyd Center. The exhibits reflect the history, culture, and ecology of the Lower Willamette, as well as the challenges of the Superfund Clean-Up. This job entails opening the gallery, welcoming guests and sometimes helping host special events. There will be training.   • Open and close the gallery.
  • Make sure the gallery is clean and neat.
  • Welcome guests and provide them with information and the ability to sign the guest book.
  • Attend special events a few times a year.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have Federal Work Study fund in Financial Aid Package (contact ...@up.edu with questions)
  • Interest in art, graphic design, and the river
  • Ability to welcome people and make them feel comfortable
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors
Preferred Qualifications
  • Any major is fine but art and graphic design, majors may find this job interesting.
  • Service work is helpful but not necessary.
Physical Requirements
  • The gallery is accessible.
