With sales approaching 200 million per annum and consistently strong growth and profitability, we are looking for a new Services and Refrigeration Team Leader who will be responsible for the provision of high-quality refrigeration and services engineering at our two manufacturing sites in Trowbridge.

Engineering staff are key to ensuring the smooth operation of the manufacturing facilities and with the increasing production, there is a need for additional engineering support within the factory operation. The engineering services team comprises a highly talented team of 4 people, covering refrigeration engineering, site services and supporting the Pie site shift engineers.

In addition to current challenges, the Services and Refrigeration Team Leader will be a key member of the project engineering team helping to deliver Capex investment. This will include working on projects with significant refrigeration investment in the current factory and longer-term plans for the future.

The role of Services and Refrigeration Team Leader will encompass:

* hands on refrigeration engineering and services support including the operation and maintenance of 5 spiral freezers and associated ammonia plants which service bulk cold storage, blast freezing and chilled operational areas

* development of a career in engineering management, working with and deputising for the Refrigeration Services Manager

* project engineering work, mainly focusing on refrigeration systems.

* a mutually agreed personal development programme covering refrigeration engineering, management development and project engineering skills

**Responsibilities**

Reporting to the Refrigeration Services Manager, you will be responsible for:

* Hands on refrigeration engineering and services support at the Trowbridge Mill and Pie sites

+ Operation and maintenance of 5 spiral freezers.

+ Infrared thermographic monitoring of refrigeration panels, control panels, production lines and distribution boards

+ Daily checks and logging of steam raising boilers

+ Operation and maintenance of:

- Domestic hot water system

- Compressed air supply

- AHU equipment

- Water treatment plant

- Factory sprinkler and hydrant systems

+ Legionella weekly checks & control

* Working with and deputising for the Refrigeration Services Manager in the management of the Refrigeration and Services team

+ Day to day management of the three shift refrigeration engineers

+ Developing strategies to improve safety, costs, quality and environmental impact

+ Assisting in the development of a fire risk reduction programme

+ Supervision of contractors with PTW and RAMS assessment

+ Drive forward energy reduction programme

+ Learning and development programmes for self and team members in order to develop an industry leading team

* Project engineering work focusing on refrigeration systems

+ Introducing new technologies for competitive advantage

+ Installation and commissioning of a new refrigeration system as part of the kitchen upgrade project

+ Development of scheme design and subsequent installation and commissioning of future refrigeration systems

+ Development of options, technologies and phasing to re-life the refrigeration systems in the current factory

**About you**

You will have excellent communication skills and leadership potential. You will be KPI focused, based on safety, quality, productivity, cost, delivery and people development.

Essential

* Previous experience as a Refrigeration Engineer within a fast-paced industrial environment

+ 5 years minimum industrial refrigeration maintenance experience

+ City & Guilds 2078-2

+ F Gas City & Guilds 2079

+ NVQ-3 Refrigeration Maintenance and Service or equivalent

* Electrically competent to be able to fault find PLCs and control systems

* Ability to read electrical drawings including 3 phase

* Evaporative Cooling Tower experience

* GCSE or equivalent level Maths and English

Desirable:

* Experience of ammonia-based refrigeration/spiral freezer systems, particularly Frigoscandia spirals

* Experience of working in chilled/frozen food manufacturing

* Experience in implementation of fire risk reduction measures

* Industry qualifications in Health and Safety, HACCP and Food Hygiene

* 18th Edition IET BS 7671:2018 Regulations

* Experience with Star Refrigeration systems

**Working hours** : Monday Friday based around 8.00-16.30, plus 1 in 4 Saturdays. Some flexibility is required in order to be able to cover out of hours activities.

**Location**: This role is based at Trowbridge and the successful candidate must live within daily commuting distance.
