Education Requirements
- High school diploma preferred but not required.
Experience Required
- 2-3 years of shear and brake experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read shop drawings and work orders.
- Locate materials required by work orders.
- Use an overhead crane to transport materials to the work area.
- Measure and cut materials according to drawings.
- Bend materials using brakes and shears, ensuring proper tolerances.
- Understand tolerances and allowances for shearing and braking.
- Change dies when necessary.
- Bend/stoop to attach cranes to materials.
- Calculate tolerances and sizes for efficient material use.
- Check machines daily to ensure they are operating properly.
- Follow proper safety precautions.
- Read and use a tape measure accurately.
Physical Requirements
- Standing, reaching, pulling, lifting, stooping, and bending.
Special Skills Required
- Working knowledge of shears.
- Working knowledge of brakes.
- Working knowledge of cranes.
