Job Description:

MCC is currently seeking a SHEET METAL INSTALLER. Individuals will install and assemble sheet metal equipment products and structures, such as ducts, control boxes, drainpipes, and furnace casings. Work may involve any of the following: setting up andoperating fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms using a hammer operating soldering and welding equipment to join sheet metal parts; inspecting, assembling, and smoothing seams and joints of burred surfaces.ESSENTIAL DUTIESLay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material such as roofing panels, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, or rulersFasten seams or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal itemsInstall assemblies, such as flashing, pipes, tubes, heating and air conditioning ducts, furnace casingsConvert blueprints into shop drawings in the construction or assembly of sheet metal productsFabricate ducts for high-efficiency heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maximize the efficiency of systemsDevelop and layout patterns that use materials most efficiently using computerized metalworking equipment or experiment with different layoutsManeuver completed units into position for installation and anchor the unitsTransport prefabricated parts to construction sites for assembly and installationDrill and punch holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets10. Trim, file, grind, de-burr, buff, or smooth surfaces, seams, or joints of assembled parts, using hand tools or portable power toolsFinish parts, using hacksaws or hand, rotary, or squaring shearsOperate heavy equipment and machinery in the performance of the essential dutiesWork with and around hazardous materials, as well as at heights and in confined spaces in the performance of these essential dutiesDrive a vehicle to various job-sites throughout working hours and maintain valid driver's license and driving record that meets company policyWork in a constant state of alertness and in a safe mannerRegular attendance and punctuality are essential for employee job performancePerform other duties as assigned RequirementsENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTSExposure to varying outdoor conditions, loud noise, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, varying fumes or odors; slippery or uneven walking surfaces; and work in ditches/excavationsWork at heights, such as by working on ladders, scaffolds, platforms, tops of single and multi-story buildings, as well as working in confined spaces such as underneath single story and multi-story buildingsLift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing 50-100 poundsMust be able to perform manual and repetitive tasks and body movements including standing and/or walking for long periods of time, bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and carryingMust be able to see naturally or with correction, to safely perform designated tasksMust be able to complete job duties proficiently while adapting to changing demands and prioritiesMust have the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and concentrate for long periods of time to perform duties in a safe mannerThis position is subject to ergonomic testingSAFETY SENSITIVEThis position is designated as a safety sensitive position because it includes as part ofthe job duties the operating, maintaining, and monitoring of heavy equipment andmachinery, and working with and around hazardous materials, at heights, and inconfined spaces. This position is one in which a lapse of attention could result in injury,illness, or death.
