Build your career with Volt! Leading Manufacturer in Downtown San Diego is hiring! Volt is immediately hiring multiple Sheet Metal Mechanics for immediate hire in downtown San Diego. As a Sheet Metal Worker you will:
- Perform layout, fabrication, assembly, and mockup of diversified types of parts, subassemblies, and assemblies following work orders, schematics or blueprints.
- Perform any operation before or after machining and welding required to fabricate and assemble all types of parts and assemblies.
- Make layout necessary to establish locations of parts, trim lines bosses, hole and flange patterns, where dimensions and fittings are exacting, requiring the use of mathematics to calculate dimensions.
- Make layouts on flat and formed sheet metal parts and trim, form, bend, and roll difficult shapes making allowances for metal distortion.
- Set up and operate all types of resistance welding equipment
- Load jigs and fixtures as necessary to perform work.
- Check weld in process by making a sample etch, cutting and polishing sample, as required.
- Assist weld engineer in developing procedures by setting up and operating resistance welding equipment
- Trim, bend, form and roll sheet metal parts and bar stock.
- May layout and fabricate sheet metal products for maintenance, such as splash guards, coolant pans and tanks, catch tanks, etc.
We are looking for people who can work 1st (6am - 2:30pm) or 2nd shift (2pm - 10:30pm). Positions are temp for 15 months with possibility of going temp to perm quickly. The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, manufacturer's drawings
- 1 year of experiencein a sheet metal role
- Must have a verifiable high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen at time of hire
