  • Job Title: Sheetfed Press Operator
  • Department: Offset
  • Location: Rochester Tech Park, 2332 Innovation Way, Bldg 4, Rochester, NY 14624 **Must have reliable transportation**
  • Schedule: Full-time, B Shift, H:3:00 pm - H:11:00 pm, Monday - Friday
  • Pay: $30 - $36 per hour. Final compensation is based on experience.
    • B Shift - Plus, receive an additional $0.50 per hour shift differential.
  • Job Summary: The Sheetfed Press Operator is responsible for all phases of setting up, running and maintaining multiple offset printing presses.
  • Manager/Supervisory Role: No
  • Reports To: Offset Press Manager
  • Duties/Expectations: While duties may vary from day to day, below is a list of general duties you can expect in this role.
    • Makes job ready by running samples to adjust print quality, registration, color settings, and mixings.
    • Makes final pre-run inspection of job and confers with supervisor for approval. Is responsible for quality of printed work.
    • Operates or directs operation of Heidelberg presses following work order instructions.
    • Monitors pH and conductivity of fountain solution on offset press.
    • Supervises 2nd pressman and feeder/tender.
    • Performs preventative maintenance on press such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning, and minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts.
    • Maintains and reads Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
    • Involved in proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemical waste.
    • Operates or assists on other pressroom equipment and presses if needed, and when workload permits.
    • Understands system of plate storage.
    • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
    • Minimizes waste/rework/high-cost occurrences through quality control checks, and reports deficiencies
    • Completes general housekeeping, cleans up and keeps work area neat and orderly
    • Continuously work to develop skills / knowledge and complete all training required by the company
    • Be a team player, communicate clearly and respectfully and maintain a positive attitude
    • Be dependable, reliable, and consistently perform high quality work meeting company production standards
    • Create a safe and hazard free work environment; follow safety protocols and report any risks
    • Perform other duties as needed / assigned
    • Adhere to all company and department policies and procedures
What we are looking for:
  • Position Qualifications:
    • Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years' machine operator experience is required. Proven experience as a Printing Machine Operator
    • Knowledge/Skills:
      • Basic computer skills, strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to communicate effectively is required. Machine operation knowledge, the ability to apply instructions to machine operation, quality control procedures and OSHA regulations knowledge is highly preferred.
    • Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Must be of legal working age and eligible to work in the U.S.

  • Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
    • Works indoors in a temperature-controlled manufacturing facility and may be exposed to loud sounds, hazardous chemicals, and equipment on the production floor. Must have the ability to bend, lift and carry up to 50 lbs.; stand/walk on hard surfaces for extended periods; complete repetitive tasks; operate computers and/or machines (dexterity, bend, stretch, reach, climb, crouch, etc.); and communicate effectively.
