JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Justice and Safety Institute is seeking qualified instructors for the Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff's Basic Training Academy. This 19 week residency academy consists of 760 hours of training. Topics include:
  • Criminal and Civil Law
  • Motor Vehicle Code
  • Firearms
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations
  • Emergency Medical Services
  • Physical Conditioning
  • Officer Safety
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Defensive Tactics
  • Professional Development
Instructors are required to produce certification certificates for specialized subjects such as Firearms and Emergency Medical Services. In addition, potential instructors must be certified by The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS: Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
