Southern Foodservice Management is seeking qualified Shift Leaders for dining units at the Fort Leavenworth Correctional Facility in Leavenworth, Kansas 66048.

Shift Leaders will report to the Manager on duty overseeing the food service operation for that shift, with specific responsibilities in overseeing the dish room, pot and pan, and general utility. Prior experience in foodservice workers supervision is required.

Full-time and Part-time positions will be available based on fluctuating scheduling needs with premium wage rates and competitive voluntary benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.)

There are two (2) shifts:

Shift One - Early morning, day

Shift Two - Afternoon / evening

Seven (7) Days a week operation:

40 hours a week – Monday through Friday

-or-

40 hours a week – with a mixture of day/hours Monday through Sunday

-or-

Part-time – Days, Evenings or Weekend shifts

General Responsibilities (During preparation, service and after the meal):

• Responsible for monitoring and supervising all Inmate Staff
• Provide training to new Inmate Staff
• Direct job duties and work efforts for DFA staff
• Ensure DFA Job assignments are scheduled and conducted properly throughout daily routine
• Ensure all areas of dining facility cleanliness are maintained as required per Army Standards
• Ensure proper Workplace Safety protocols and Standards are being adhered to by Inmate Staff
• Ensure employees are properly handling chemicals
• Responsible for proper completion of cleaning schedules per Army Standards
• Responsible for directing and placing inmates in positions per the workflow requirements
• Conduct duties in an orderly and professional manner and to standards of southern foodservice code of conduct

Cleaning Assignment:

• In general, oversee cleaning processes and ensure cleaning and sanitation are completed correctly
• As a member of the SFM Team, all employees participate in general cleaning and housekeeping. You will be assigned certain tasks that could be: daily, weekly, monthly and/or as needed
• May be assigned and required to perform all other tasks to support meal production, service, breakdown, overall cleanliness of the cafeteria and related work areas, and all other business objectives

Requirements:

• 5 years' experience leading, training, teaching, instructing, and coaching Food Service Workers
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Pass required background check to work on/at an Army Fort

*Rates include both base rates and a $5.10 per hour health and welfare cash stipend. This is paid direct in cash to the employee for all hours worked up to a maximum of 40 hours per week for employees who opt-out of health coverage.

If health coverage is elected, the health and welfare stipend will be utilized toward health insurance premiums. (Overtime, if scheduled, is paid at 1.5X the base rate only. So, hours worked over 40 are paid at $28.43).
