**POSITION SUMMARY:**

The Shift Supervisor is a member of the Site Management Team. Primarily responsible for the nightly management and supervisory control of Group Living operations under the supervision of the Director of Group Living. Ensures ROP programs are being implemented in accordance with ROP policies and procedures and Federal, State and Local licensing requirements.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**

1. Exercises supervisory responsibility for daily Group Living Operations.

2. Serves as the site RAC in the absence of the Program Director, and Directors of Group Living/Student Services.

3. Oversees and monitors the facility and daily schedules to ensure all students and staff are in compliance and on time for all program elements.

4. Monitors and supervises site operations throughout the day to ensure safety and security of staff and students and proper supervision is maintained.

5. Oversees logistics for and assists with facilitating all extra-curricular and community service activities, off-site travel and student transportation, if applicable.

6. Oversees weekend student visits to ensure Rite of Passage policies and procedures are maintained.

7. Assists with Pre Service Training when necessary and provides on-going training related to operational or student issues when needed.

8. Leads monthly fire drills and documents for auditing purposes. (Site specific).

9. Ensures proper safe physical management techniques are followed at all times and assists other staff with emergency situations.

10. Provides management and leadership knowledge, skills and abilities to supervised staff and all other staff.

a. Supervised Staff: Manages, hires, trains, develops, approves time and attendance, evaluates, disciplines, and investigates issues relating to violations of EEO, harassment, safety, discrimination, violation of Policies and Procedures, conduct, ethics and ROP norms and culture (as a minimum).

11. Designates staff to support other departments such as Education, Medical, Food Service, etc.

12. Completes required reports and documentation in a timely manner, provides management with required reports and advises of any problematic situations. Examples of reports: Monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI), weekly report for Site Management review.

13. Complies with and implements the Rite of Passage Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals/handbooks.

14. Ensures the highest standards are maintained to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct and to ensure the program remains in compliance with agency licensing and Rite of Passage policies and procedures. Provides input and submits proposals for the revision of existing and/or new policies and procedures.

15. Attends all required meetings. Depending on location, meetings may include but are not limited to weekly Site Management meeting, Shift Change (Chairperson), Group Leader meetings (facilitates), site-wide meetings and Cabinet meetings.

16. Participate in at least 50% of the daily physical activities required of the students.

17. Provides encouragement, guidance and resources to the staff and students.

18. Models and ensures all program norms are upheld without compromise.

19. Acts as a positive role model and mentor for both staff and students.

20. Treats others with respect, confronts negative behavior and supports confrontation.

21. Other duties as assigned, verbally or in written form.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**

1. ROP employees currently in this position and internal candidates being considered for an open SS position must have a BA/BS in a related field or actively pursuing a degree. External candidates must have a BA/BS in a related field.

2. Three to five years of experience in a residential treatment facility setting. Related and/or equivalent experience may be substituted with approval.

3. Working knowledge of the Positive Operational Culture behavior modification program.

4. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple people and projects.

5. Good interpersonal skills including the ability to interview potential employees if required.

6. Must meet the requirements to be an eligible ROP driver. Must possess a current State Drivers License and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.

7. Strong knowledge of overall company operations and policies and procedures.

8. Ability to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.

9. Ability to perform work with little or no supervision.

10. Ability to utilize resources available to complete assigned projects.

11. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.

12. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

13. Ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.

14. Able to work in excess of 40 hours per week with the possibility of a varied schedule.

15. Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

16. Must have excellent organization and time management skills.

17. Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships.

18. Ability to provide exemplary customer service to all employees and outside constituents.

19. Ability to function independently and as a member of a team in a multi-task environment.

20. Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, with the ability to adjust to high pressure and rapidly changing business conditions.

Bachelors or better.

**Experience**

**Preferred**

**1-3 years:** Experience working with Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

**3-5 years:** Supervisor experience working with juveniles in a secure setting.
