Job Summary
A Shift Supervisor is a front-line supervisor in a skilled trade, manufacturing, or production operations in a forge or steel manufacturing setting who plans, organizes, and supervises their direct reports ensuring the safety, training, and overall understanding and development within the operations of the shop or plant. Provides current and daily reports to the Foreman and operations manager via email or verbally as reportable items should arise.
Job Description
- Responsible for production floor supervision clarification of various types of customer & CAD drawings/print
- Identify discrepancies within print/drawing and the product before, during, and after processing
- Direct production workforce and advise shop foreman of any direct reports not performing according to procedures, policies, and schedules
- Perform work to assist crew as needed stepping into different departments such as burning department, fabrication, etc.
- Responsible for ensuring knowledge of job/ project specifications and peculiars and offering practical advice about the various project schedules and budgets, to assist in completing the project in the most efficient and timely manner
- Review daily schedules, and requirements for completion, communicate with foreman and direct reports as to the status of their findings during review
- Maintains a close working relationship with direct reports and Forman to ensure proper communication and coordination of responsibility to their direct reports
- Responsible for ensuring proper flow of paperwork and information from office to production worker, inspection worker, quality control dept. and shipping dept. regarding delivery commitments, tolerances, work orders, and any other necessary correspondence
- Responsible for ensuring that all company policies/programs including, but not limited to Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Harassment, Code of Ethics, and EEOC are fully always enforced
- Coordinates and advises foreman, maintenance, and safety of equipment repairs or LOTO at the end of each shift via email ensuring proper documentation
- Ensure quality standards are upheld
- Other duties as assigned
Skills Required
- 5+ years of experience supervising a team in a steel manufacturing and/or fabrication setting
- Experience overseeing a team of 15-20 employees
- Will need to fill in other departments as needed
- Must have proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
- Ability to read blueprints
- Utilize tape and caliper
- Must have oxy burn table, fabricating, etc.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work the second shift
- Weekends and Overtime work will be required as needed.
- Shift Hours: 2nd Shift, 4:00 pm – 12:30 am
