Job Description:
Position Title : Ship Store Associate Reports To : Store Manager Position Summary : Pacific Shipyards is seeking candidates with retail/parts counter experience to work with a team in our internal consumables and specialized tool rental function. The Ship Store Associate issues necessary tools, equipment, and supplies to various trades within the company and sub-contractors and performs inventory and stocking of the needed supplies for the store as necessary. The associate must keep track of the location of each tool in the organization and make sure that there are sufficient resources available for the construction crafts.   • Communicates regularly with Officers, Managers, & Supervisors about the different divisions and department's issues.
  • Consistently be on time for work, meetings and appointments and deliver work projects by assigned due dates.
  • Maintain assigned work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Maintain and ensure the safety of all assigned equipment.
  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
  • Meet productivity goals and quality standards as set by management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing supplies, tools, and equipment using POS system
  • Issue tools and supplies such as mechanical, structural, coatings, laborer tools to various trades
  • Stock supplies in store
  • Inspect and repair tools as needed
  • Clean the store and warehouse area
  • Perform other duties as needed
Other Duties & Responsibilities :
  • Requires good oral communication skills to communicate effectively with clients, employees, management, outside vendors etc.
  • Requires the ability to work with others with minimal supervision and be a team player
  • Must present a courteous, efficient, and professional demeanor, even under stressful situations
  • Must be able to work under pressure, problem solve, and prioritize work
  • Requires concentration, alertness, and attention to detail
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and procedures
  • Must be able to comprehend and follow occupational safety and health regulations, other state and federal regulations governing the ship repair industry and company practices and procedures
  • Ability to adhere to NAVSEA standards and regulations
  • Understand duties are varied and regularly require analysis, judgment, and discretion
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Work Authorization & Security Clearance
  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
Education & Experience
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • 1 year store associate or warehouse experience
  • Maritime or industrial retail store associate experience (preferred)
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Must show proof of Valid State Driver's license in good standing
  • Availability - This position requires open availability and must be available for overtime as necessary, depending on project needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Replenishment process will require you to do the following:
    • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
    • Climb ladder(s)
    • Move and dispense gas cylinders
