POSITION TITLE Ship Team LeaderLOCATIONDecatur, ALREPORTS TOArea LeaderPOSITION SUMMARYThe Team Lead coordinates monthly, weekly and daily team activities to deliver benchmark safety, quality, delivery, reliability, department loss, and technician training results. The position also enrolls leadership to develop a plan to achieve team goals with clear milestones while tracking results and developing plans to improve results that are not projected milestones.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for the manufacture of pet foods which comply with all Food Safety, Quality and regulatory requirements. Understanding and supporting the JMS Decatur Safety Program policies and performing work related activities in a safe manner. Recognizing unsafe work conditions and suggesting new safety standards as appropriateCoordinate activities on shift for the team. Manage the day, ensuring that the team has clear shift plans prior to new shift and follows through on shift plan to ensure key work tasks are accomplished prior to the end of the shift.Serve as a resource to flow to the work when needed, to include but not be limited to the ability to operate select equipment and perform job functions within the department.Have overall responsibility and accountability for all team results in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Reliability, Overtime, Training, etc... Ensure that the team is achieving the desired short-term goals and maintaining team scorecards for all aspects of responsibility. Ensure that the team is operating based on established documented standardsCommunicate activities and issues across department boundaries while working with the business to resolve shift issues such as production accounting, quality/reliability issues, production planning and schedule changes.Seek out and use department and plant resources for SQMS systems, such as PM, FI or E&T.Coach team on using root cause analysis to resolve operational and technical problems.Resolve interpersonal conflicts between teams and individuals while facilitating goal setting and effective communication.Use the accountability model to improve an individual's performance. Ensure that each individual has a clear training plan and is making satisfactory progress towards the plan while coaching team members on performance. Assisting the Area Leader in performing quantitative assessments of Team Member skills for annual assessment review..Assessing team results weekly and monthly and developing a plan to improve results.Develop savings projects to improve department losses and work with key resources to drive improvements.Serve as a resource for the department on base information systems such as Proficy, Oracle and Red Prairie.Lead effective team meetings and ensure that key information is discussed while addressing and resolving team conflicts in a group setting.Supports cross-functional communication with Logistics, QA, and HR, to meet various demands within the shift.Interfaces effectively with all departments,to deliver effective communication .Provides balanced feedback (positive & improvement) based on observations.Develops team on safe, high quality, and productive operations and ensures team continuously improves.
