About The OpportunityMaintain the integrity of information by accurately receiving goods shipped through the inspection and verification processes as it pertains to meeting the customers' needs.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify incoming goods prior to acceptance.
- Confirm outgoing goods prior to loading.
- Communication with TL, LTL carriers via telephone, fax, websites, etc.
- Daily processing of shipping documents, customs (export) documents.
- Daily communication with Customer Service regarding order details.
- Record all shipping/receiving transactions within the computer system.
- Inform Shipping Supervisor of any discrepancies that cannot be resolved.
- Utilize routing guide to select approved carriers and determine most cost-efficient method for shipping.
- Safely operate forklift.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Certification:- High School Degree or Equivalent Required
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a shipping/warehouse role
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
- Ability to STOP-THINK-ACT and work safely.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business.
- Ability to work on a rotating shift.
- Ability to work rotating job stations
- Ability to effectively work in teams.
- Ability to professionally accept constructive feedback and criticism.
- Ability to work in a warehouse-based environment with moving equipment and people.
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles.
- Working knowledge of logistics.
- Working knowledge of export shipping procedures.
- Experienced use of an on-line control system.
- Strong computer skills in Excel, Access, and Word.
- Good oral communication and planning skills.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to read and interpret tariffs, shipping and receiving documents, and freight invoices
