POSITION SUMMARY:
The Shipping & Receiving Manager controls the flow of material and goods into and out of the Fairfield facility to meet critical customer schedules, as well as on-site demonstration, pre-qualification testing and training. This requires highly efficient control for:
• goods-in shipment and storage from the sister company in Canada or other suppliers
• preparation and dispatch of customer orders
• organization of heavy equipment, generators and fork-lifts (including hire)
• movement of equipment to/from off-site storage, together with pipes for cutting, blasting and demonstration
A key duty is the fulfilment of orders through the use of pick lists and/or manufacturing instructions. Accuracy and numeracy are requisite skills, together with systematic planning of efficient storage.
All materials entering or leaving the warehouse should be booked in or booked out. Effective use of computer technology and specific company software (IFS) through liaison with the sales administration team is a vital skill.
Safety is of paramount importance. The Manager must ensure all operations are carried out in a safe and considerate manner.
The manager must have knowledge of international import/export legislation and must be able to effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international freight transportation. When requested, he must make available for inspection goods ready to be shipped, together with all documentation.
The manager trains and supervises contracted warehouse support staff to assist his function.
DUTIES:
Material Handling
• Receipt and checking of supplied materials including ensuring the entry onto IFS and the safe practices in material handling.
Order Fulfillment/Dispatching
• Fulfilment of orders by correct product selection from warehouse stock and accurate consolidation to complete customer's order.
• Dispatch of material including the safe stacking on pallets or packaging in cartons and correctly wrapped.
• Production of appropriate dispatch documents and liaison with relevant sales administrator to co-ordinate invoice production.
• Assist external inspection of goods for export through preparation of goods for shipping and documentation.
Inventory Control
• All transactions to be recorded through IFS and the use of Goods Received Notes (GRN's).
• Record the use of material used in Sleeve School.
• Perform regular (quarterly) check of stock and annual audited (end November) stock check.
Safety
• Advise management immediately of any safety or operational concerns with tools or equipment.
• Ensure all lifting equipment is recorded in the register and inspected regularly.
• Ensure personal and equipment qualifications are kept up to date.
• Ensure the whole area is clean and tidy and presents no trip or fall, or traffic hazards.
Administration
• Assist in the smooth running of the company through a willingness to contribute to all aspects of the business as required. Deadlines, holidays, shipping delays and accelerated project time scales all reinforce the need for a willingness to complete the task within the required timeframe.
• Prime contact for the delivery and dispatch of courier items and all dispatch activities.
• Help out when necessary, with record keeping.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Holding Bachelor's degree preferably in supply chain.
• Minimum 3 years experience in warehouse operations.
• Strong experience with ERP/MRP Systems
• Previous leadership experience managing teams.
• Trained and skilled in materials handling – physical lifting and use of lifting equipment.
• Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods
• Safe packing, loading and wrapping of unbalanced and awkward consignments.
• Implementing Health & Safety procedures for all warehouse, logistic and production operations.
• Knowledge of international freight and transport codes of practice and operating methods.
• Understanding DSG Canusa supply-chain in order to co-ordinate and liaise effectively with suppliers, staff and customers
• Build relationships with key suppliers
• IT skills to effectively manage electronic communication and stock records
• Effective communication skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks all with an attention to fine detail
