A Warehouse Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing the daily operations of a warehouse and ensuring the productivity of the team. Typically operates in fast-paced environments where priorities can shift rapidly, making multitasking and delegation vital skills for success. Key responsibilities and duties of a Warehouse Supervisor include:
Responsibilities
* Overseeing receiving, packing, and shipment of goods
* Assigning workloads and daily tasks to Warehouse Associates
* Communicating with customers to answer shipping and receiving questions and troubleshoot problems
* Monitoring inventory and shipment transactions for accuracy
* Ensuring inventory and storage areas are clean and maintained
* Monitoring Warehouse Associates to ensure safety procedures are being followed when operating forklifts and other machinery
* Creating reports and records of production processes, tools issues performance, and inventory; sharing them with managers and providing suggestions to improve safety, productivity and quality.
* Supervising and directing the daily activities of warehouse employees, assigning tasks, ensuring coordination between different teams, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance.
* Training new hires, managing scheduling and work conflicts, monitoring safety, and promoting internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
Performance Management: Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance.
* Ability to delegate when assigning employee workloads
* Problem-solving skills to handle customer complaints and production issues
* Clear knowledge of warehouse operations
* Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
* Proven track record of leadership skills
* Leadership and organizational skills to run the warehouse efficiently
* Proficiency in inventory and trade compliance software
* Knowledgeable in Sarbanes-Oxley inventory controls is preferred
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or similar related field is required.
* 3+ years of Warehouse, logistics, and inventory control leadership is required.
