Vitro also operates one of the world's largest glass research and development facilities in Pittsburgh, PA and has four residential glass fabrication plants in Canada.Website: www.vitroglazings.comThe Shipping and Utility Technician is responsible for performing the Shipping, Receiving and Utilities Functions at the Glass Technology center. The role is a service provider to the entire facility, including Vitro and tenant groups. The duties performed are critical to ensure that all materials are received in conformance with Company and facility guidelines and that items shipped from the facility are done so meeting regulatory compliance requirements (Hazmat, non-Hazmat) and are done so with expedition and in the most cost-effective manner. Additionally, support in the facility through various functions will be expected to assist the team in facility services.This position requires the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time, the ability to lift +/- 30lbs, the ability to physically function while wearing necessary PPE (steel toe boots/metatarsals, safety glasses, ear plugs, Kevlar safety clothing, dust mask, etc.)Overtime may be required on occasion.Responsibilities
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements, safety awareness and hazardous material shipping.
- Work in a safe manner and strictly adhere to all laboratory and facility safety protocols
- Pack goods for shipping in containers and on pallets, with labels and appropriate shipping documents and ensure that all shipments are filled correctly and on time. Verify incoming shipments from sender and notify receiver.
- Responsible for inventory management to maintain office supply stock levels.
- Complete tasks on time and communicate any issues with department supervision
- Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard compliance.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma/GED
- Hazmat Material Shipping certification
- Use of hand and power tools
- Time management skills
- Proficient computer skills; MS Office software, CAD, SAP ARIBA
- Ability to work both in team setting and autonomously
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate a fork truck and pallet jack
- Aptitude and willingness to continue to learn and expand skill sets
- Adherence to safe work practices in compliance with all environmental, health, safety, and security protocols
- Flexibility to participate in other duties within the department as assigned
