Role Summary:

Starwest Botanicals is an industry leader within the organic herb, botanical, spice, and tea industry. Located in Sacramento, California, Starwest has grown to become a global player in wholesale, e-commerce, and manufacturing. The Shipping and Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse operations, including receiving, storing and shipping products and raw materials. This role involves optimizing warehouse processes, ensuring inventory accuracy, and leading an hourly team of 15 to 40 employees. The ability to develop a highly skilled, self-directed team of hourly employees is crucial to the success of our organization. The company currently operates three warehouses in the Sacramento, California area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, storing, and shipping products and raw materials.
  • Coordinate and monitor the shipping of products to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular inventory audits / cycle counts.
  • Hire and train a highly efficient team of hourly employees emphasizing cross functional teamwork, a positive work environment, and performance.
  • Establish and implement short and long term departmental goals (KPIs), objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Work within the company's key systems such as ERP, MRP and WMS.
  • Drive continuous improvement through work process reviews and employee engagement.
  • Work with the Quality Department to ensure the company operates and produces within company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of customer orders including maintaining customer specified service levels and expectations.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure any potential stock outs are proactively addressed and tracked.
  • Work to develop and implement CAPEX projects.
  • Emphasize a safety workplace.
  • Participate in the S&OP process.
  • Work within federal, state, local, auditing body, and company standards to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in shipping and warehousing is a required.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or a related field is required.
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, database management, spreadsheet creation, email, and internet.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to food manufacturing, warehousing, and GMPs.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of hourly employees ranging from 15-40.
  • Provides constructive and timely feedback to improve performance to employees.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of working on the warehouse floor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Compensation:

  • Salary range = $85,000 - $95,000 annually.
  • Position qualifies for full-time benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401k.

Travel Required:

  • Travel between company facilities within the Sacramento, CA area is required.

Work Location and Reporting Relationship:

  • This position requires the candidate to be on-site in Sacramento, CA daily.
  • Work from home or remote work is not available for this position.
  • This position reports to the Director of Operations.
