JOB TITLE: Shipping Clerk
LOCATION: Sedalia, Missouri
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OR PURPOSE OF JOB: The Shipping Clerk is responsible for assisting in the overall receiving, storage and movement of incoming supplies and outgoing finished product. This may include several different aspects - yearbooks, planners, commercial print jobs and sales samples. This position provides support to the overall operation of the department by performing any functions needed within Shipping.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS: - Ensures appropriate shipping information is keyed into the computer for tracking purposes. Ships yearbooks, planners, and commercial work is the most expedient way to ensure they arrive on time.
- Cross-trains full-time and/or seasonal staff to operate shipping equipment at a proficiency to meet seasonal demands. Ensures proper training on safe and productive operation of assigned equipment and department procedures.
- Learns and practices cleaning and maintenance procedures on all assigned shipping equipment to be scheduled for minimal disruption of production. Alerts the bindery supervisor and/or service vendors of machine repair needs.
- Effective communication with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments and the ability to troubleshoot issues related to inventory discrepancies or shipment errors.
- Fills orders for Customer Service. Responsible for staging and tracking inventory for sales kits on a daily basis. Ensures all kits are shipped out in a timely manner per customer service's instructions.
Required: - High school diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets
- Ability to make cartons, package, label, weigh and ship outgoing materials
- Ability to load outgoing materials and freight
- Ability to operate postage meters and scales
- Ability to operate company pallet jack and forklift
- Ability to coordinate work within the department
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Flexibility to move from task to task during the shift
- Previous Shipping experience is preferred
Preferred:
- Shipping and logistic knowledge
- 1-2 years of previous experience working in a printing or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of UPS & Fedex systems, Pitney Bowes equipment.
- Knowledge of International Customs requirements for international and cross border shipments
