Reference #: SHIPP007020 DescriptionJob Summary As the Shipping & Inventory Supervisor you will collaborate with various departments, including Production, Quality Control, Logistics, and Customer Service, to ensure the accurate and timely shipment of all deliveries from the Coolbaugh, Tobyhanna, PA Laser Gas Mix Facility. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all package components and raw materials. This role also involves managing shipping operations and overseeing cylinder preparation. Why Messer? Provides safe working environment for shipping and cylinder prep personnel. Schedule and Prioritize personnel and daily workflows/ objectives. Coordinate shipments with production, sales, customer service and others as necessary. Coordinate shipments with other Messer facilities. Notifies customer service of any shipment problems. Tracks and monitors shipments for on-time delivery Solves shipping related issues with deliveries to customer satisfaction. Evaluates service levels of carriers and forwarders and coordinates with purchasing personnel responsible for carrier contracts. Responsible for the delivery of all domestic and export shipments. Maintains a daily backlog. Monitors and controls overtime. Ensures that all shipping paperwork is correct and meets all regulatory requirements. Ensures that all packages meet all regulatory requirements before shipping. Keeps updated on all regulatory related issues. Responsible for personnel management of all shipping and cylinder prep staff to include conducting annual evaluations. Collection of statistical data for use in ISO evaluation of carriers. Sets and monitors goals for continual process improvements projects. Monitors various financial data / costs of the shipping department. Reviews and updates all process controls and SOPs. Continually trains and review training levels of all department personnel. Sets and monitors individual goals for continual development of department personnel. Monitors and orders department / packaging supplies as necessary Responsible for the payment of department related vendor and service bills Reviews and approves Purchase Card purchases of direct reports. Effectively utilize all cylinder and valve assets Proactively manage retest of cylinder, trailer, and ISO fleet, budgeting annually and ensuring continuity of supply. Manage asset capital budget of $500,000 - $1,500,000 per year. Develop metrics to track asset utilization/turns per year. Ensure appropriate type and quantities of empty cylinders are available for production orders, while maintaining awareness of over stocking and asset utilization targets. Prepare and submit rigorous capital funds requests for capital funds to support purchase packaging for new products and increased demand on existing products. Interface with existing customers, logistics, and stocking locations to ensure timely return of in-service packages. Contact and maintain routine communications with customers and stocking locations regarding logistics and cycle times, improving overall asset utilization and maximizing customer satisfaction. Perform routine fleet sizing evaluations utilizin SAP cylinder tracking. Maintain accurate inventory of all package components and raw materials. Ensure that appropriate raw materials (primary production chemicals) are available for production orders, while maintaining controls on working capital. Ensures accurate inventory reconciliation between SAP and physical inventory monthly. Addresses deficiencies swiftly and completely. Ensures that shipping personnel are trained against applicable regulatory requirements including: 49CFR, Multi-modal Hazardous Materials, 10CFR Part 30 (FTR) and Part 730-780 (EAR), 19CFR Part 0-200 (CBP OHS Regs) Responsible for personnel management of all shipping and cylinder prep staff to include conducting annual evaluations. Continually trains and review training levels of all department personnel. Sets and monitors individual goals for continual development of department personnel. Required Skills Strong ability to read / interpret government and international regulations. Experience with SAP, Independent Shipping Software, Microsoft Office Products and Windows. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma required 5+ years' experience as a supervisor Preferred Qualifications Secondary degree preferred Logistical / operations background preferred Multi-modal Hazardous Materials Shipment Certification (DOT, IATA, IMDG) preferred.
