Job Type Full-timeDescriptionJOB TITLE: Shipping LoaderORGANIZATIONAL UNIT: Sovereign Pipe TechnologiesSupervisor: Shipping Manager FLSA: Non-ExemptPay Range: $20 - $22 **ALL FULL TIME POSITIONS: In addition to your pay, your salary also includes Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance. The Biweekly deduction from employee paycheck is $40.00 for Employee Only, $95.00 Employee plus Children, $120.00 Employee plus Spouse, and $140.00 Employee plus family. ** JOB SUMMARY: Assist the Sovereign Pipe Technologies Shipping Manager with all shipping items as needed within established guidelines. Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or pallets to be moved or pulled for shipment. Loads and unloads materials onto or from tractor trailers. Loads pallets onto truck and inspects strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit. Verifies materials loaded or unloaded against work order or bill of lading. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area. Makes partial racks when necessary to complete shipping order. Organizes and randomly inspects inventory on yard. Operates industrial truck safely and accurately to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Manages all Logistics Operations within the company to include all transportation and shipping, foreign and domestic. Ensures accurate schedules exist for the flow of materials, parts and assemblies between or within departments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop and implement cost effective logistical solutions for the company. This includes talking and negotiating with vendors to get best combination of service and cost and determining how to ship and in many cases receive loads of product. Reducing costs and maximizing efficiency and quality of shippers. Responsible for shipping and receiving both domestically and internationally. This includes independently managing the entire process of procurement and designating employee resources for Maintain good relationships with vendors, truckers, and customers. Assure timely delivery at best possible total cost and service levels to the customer. Work with Operations Manager to properly, safely, and efficiently package product for shipment. Inspect incoming materials. Evaluate shipper performance based on price, on time performance, no damage to loads, etc. and develop a base of shippers to work with for optimal cost/performance. Ensure that shipping and warehousing processes are properly documented as standard operating procedures and ensure that the processes are followed. Maintain organization and 5S in the yard. Compute and communicate various performance metrics (such as on-time performance) in the plant. Supervise the loading and unloading of trucks. Communicate shipping and delivery information to managers throughout the company. Perform other duties as assigned. This includes managing the inventory control and logistics. Ensures 100% on time shipments. Co-develop a culture that has a disciplined systematic approach to Risk Management that is reflected in the work practices involved in designing, building, operation and maintaining our facilities and infrastructure. SAFETY FIRST! Establish controls and action plans to mitigate gaps in performance. Assists in Lean, KPI, and other efficiency goals and processes including root cause analyses. Able to make decisions about shipping issues as they arrive.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION: Must have a High School Diploma or GED, or experience in the related field. Basic knowledge of computer functions and applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The incumbent will perform physical efforts such as climbing, lifting to 60 pounds, and reaching. The incumbent will also be seated for short periods of time and do repetitive work at the computer in addition to considerable walking. Must be able to operate hand and pneumatic powered strapping tools. Must also be able to utilize chains, slings and hooks. Must be able to operate keyboard on microprocessor equipment. May be required to climb stairs or ladder and work on elevated platforms. Involves getting into and out of lift trucks and other mobile equipment. Must be continually alert to mobile machinery. Must be able to cope with the pressures of extrusion equipment that runs continually in a 24 hour period. Must be able to understand and retain safety subject training.GUIDELINES: Incumbent uses guides and employer standard operating procedures, in addition to handbooks, policies, and precedents. Guidelines include Citizen Potawatomi Nation supply and equipment management regulations and directives, handbooks, precedents, and files of previous projects. The Incumbent implements adaptations in dealing with problems and unusual situations always with the best interest of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation in mind. Guidelines may include the System of Internal Controls Manuals.COMPLEXITY: As the level of difficulty increases, the incumbent considers differences in the courses of action and refines methods or develops new techniques, concepts, theories, or programs to solve problems. Incumbent will frequently be faced with unusual circumstances and incomplete or conflicting data in addition to various staff and personnel who have special interests and individual priorities, which may conflict with existing policy and procedures. The level of difficulty will vary from mild to extremely intensive and complex circumstances on a routine basis. The incumbent is often required to depart from past approaches and to extend traditional techniques or develop new ones to meet major objectives and projects without compromising responsible methods and integrity principals. SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of the work is to conduct precise equipment operations in the Shipping department and manage it with methods and contribute to the generation of a profit by providing quality services to our customers.SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Incumbent is under the immediate supervisor of the Shipping Manager. Supervisor assigns work on information regarding the objectives, priorities, and deadlines. Incumbent handles all work independently according to instructions, established policies, and generally accepted principals. Supervisor assigns work in terms of objectives and basic priorities and is available for consultation in resolving complex or controversial issues.
