The Shipping & Receiving Team Lead oversees all aspects of the shipping and receiving operations within the company. This includes managing incoming and outgoing shipments, coordinating with carriers and suppliers, and leading a team of shipping and receiving associates to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and procedures. Salary range for this position are between $23.00-$28.00/hour depending on experience and qualifications. Requirements Essential Job Functions
- Lead, train, and motivate a team of shipping and receiving associates.
- Schedule and assign tasks to team members to ensure smooth operation of the shipping and receiving department.
- Provide guidance and support to team members, resolving any issues or conflicts that may arise.
- Coordinate the receipt, inspection, and storage of incoming shipments.
- Ensure accurate recording of received goods in inventory systems.
- Oversee the packaging, labeling, and shipping of outgoing orders according to established procedures.
- Monitor shipping schedules and prioritize shipments to meet deadlines.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Maintain organized storage areas and implement efficient inventory control measures.
- Communicate inventory levels and shortages to relevant departments to facilitate replenishment.
- Implement quality control measures to verify the condition and accuracy of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Address any quality issues promptly and collaborate with vendors or carriers to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards for product handling and documentation.
- Enforce safety protocols and best practices to prevent accidents and injuries in the shipping and receiving area.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations governing the handling of goods.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a culture of safety awareness among team members.
- Liaise with other departments, such as procurement, production, and customer service, to coordinate shipment schedules and address logistics issues.
- Communicate effectively with carriers, freight forwarders, and other external partners to coordinate transportation and resolve delivery issues.
- Provide timely updates and reports to management on shipping and receiving activities, performance metrics, and areas for improvement.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in inventory management software UPS WorldShip, FedEx, and MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations, customs procedures, and transportation logistics, including but not limited to UPS WorldShip and FedEx.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Forklift certification and experience operating material handling equipment preferred.
