Overview: BRT Extrusions, located in Niles, OH, is looking for an experienced Shipping Scheduler to join our expanding Shipping Department. BRT is a growing aluminum extrusions company, and as we grow, our employees will grow as well. This is an hourly, non-exempt position (FLSA classification). Hourly wage will be competitive and based on experience. Essential duties of the Shipping Scheduler 1. Schedule Shipments: Develop and manage shipment schedules to ensure timely delivery of goods to customers and receipt of materials from suppliers. 2. Coordinate with Carriers: Liaise with carriers and shipping partners to arrange transportation, confirm delivery times, and resolve any issues that arise. 3. Track Shipments: Monitor the status of shipments, provide updates to relevant stakeholders, and address any delays or discrepancies. 4. Optimize Shipping Processes: Analyze shipping processes and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve delivery performance. 5. Communicate with Internal Teams: Collaborate with inventory management, procurement, and customer service teams to align shipping schedules with inventory levels and customer requirements. 6. Handle Issues: Address and resolve any shipping-related issues. 7. Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of shipments, including schedules, tracking information, and correspondence with carriers and customers. 8. Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies related to shipping and transportation. 9. Will work closely with other departments on the progress of the orders as they are entered. 10. Maintain daily communication with Sales and Customer Service departments. 11. Respond quickly to changing scheduling priorities. 12. May be asked to assist with other duties as business needs require. Requirements of the Shipping Scheduler 1. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Will accept commensurate experience. 2. Experience shipping, logistics, or supply chain coordination. Familiarity with shipping software and systems is a plus. 3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and shipping management software. 4. Certifications (e.g., APICS, CILT) preferred but not required 5. At least 1 to 3 years working as a shipping coordinator/scheduler in manufacturing is strongly preferred. 6. Strong communication skills - both verbal and written. 7. Ability to change priorities as shipping/customer order instructions change throughout the shift. 8. Must maintain good attendance. 9. Must follow all Company Safety Procedures/Policies 10. Must have outstanding organizational and problem-solving skills. 11. Basic knowledge of (MES). Manufacturing Execution System (EPICS preferred but will train). 12. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks. 13. Keen on working in a fast-paced environment. Physical requirements: An individual in this role will be able to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn frequently. An individual in this role will need to be always aware of movement and/or noises around them when in the plant. An individual in this role must move 10lbs frequently and up to 25lbs occasionally. An individual in this role will remain stationary and move about an office and plant setting as needed per essential duties of the position. An individual in this role will be an effective communicator verbally and in writing. This position will require frequent use of office equipment: phone, fax, computer and all other office equipment as part of the essential functions of the role. This position is primarily located in the plant shipping office, and there will be a need to traverse the building frequently between the front office and the shipping office and through the plant.
